  1. Who's the genius that thought this was a good idea? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looks like some kind of a man far from the real world I am still using X7 one more reason to keep using it for now
  2. When I build the solid all the solid geometry I blank. That`s prevent me from damaging solid by accident .Then I make solid copy ,remove all solid history and blank original solid And I think it will be 100 percent safe now. At least that`s what I found be experience. Being paranoid is a good thing sometimes . HTH Teh never say die .
  3. IT also can be the absence of % sign at the end of transmission or absense of M02 OR M30.
  4. Another question came up yesterday - what brand of 5-axis machine would be a good fit for mold machining (cores and cavities hard milling)? Heard some good things about Fidia, Makino, and Hermle. What are other good machines worth looking into? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I vote for HERMLE We use one actually and it rocks Best 5 AXES MACHINE I ever run
  5. For roughing surface rough pocket for finish surface scallop This is the simplest way More effective high speed machining optarea and surface blend for finish
  6. THE WORK PLANE NEED TO BE ASSOSIATED WITH SOME GEOMETRY i KNOW THAT IT IS NOT YOUR CASE BUT WHAT I actually do is this : I draw rectangle in the plane i want to export and merge it to the new file HTH
  7. I don't see you around much, Alex. I hope you're doing well, old friend ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I am fine I have returned to the roots doing molds . This time it is extrusion molds . Programming and machining (milling up to 5 axes ,wirecut and erosion ) All the good old stuff And Mastercam .... Greetings to all old timers Where is Rekd .by the way . Missing him I salute to everyone.
  8. Rickster . It happens to me when my surface widths is not minimal Exactly like in your case So I would select all surfaces select width of line minimal and ran ramsaver After that I would clean my glasses Whisky on the rocks helps too
  9. Thad . I quit using it long agow too. But the guy who worked before me used it heavily, Now when I open his files using X7 I need to rewrote his programs It drives me crazy . The other issue is selecting approach point sOMETIMES mc USES IT SOMETIMES NOt Without any logical reason . Mc don`t likes points on spline like middle of the spline but can refuse to catch end of line too Happens once in a time but when it happens it d\rives me nuts. And mostof all why on earth when I by mistake click on approach point in operation manager it instantly forgets it ? WSry we can not have something like points manager ? Alex
  10. CHANGE THICKNESS OF surfaces Select all surfaces right v\click on entety thickness select smallest one HTH
  11. Hi. This is X7 bug but I suspect it happens in x8 too when I do simple surface contour undercut milling using Direction option after applying toolpath mirror direction become screwed up (wrong ,ahem ) This leads to the part scrapping . Happens once in 10 times approximatly . Beware It can be still present in X8 Alex
  12. +1 to Jay +1 to what Jay says I use Mastercam in an everyday manner for two decades and I never use solid geometry for machining In my humble opinion it has too many limitations aND IT IS BETTER TO HAVE ASSOSIATIVITY OF THE TOOLPATH TO THE ENTITIES IN SEPArate level instead of solid better for toolpath editing HTH
  13. It would be great idea to add something like in level manager view levels used and mask by name view levels by name order ....
  14. My first thought was .... -is today first of april by chance ? Time travel ,you know .
  15. I did this sort of job on three axis only with hand driven indexing rotary head the trick is to split job on angle sectors about 30 degrees use toolpath for ball tip compensation center You `ll get the right results cause you will always get the same section of the sphere the principe is the key toolpathes can be different HTH
  16. Hello ,folx . I have a question on Hermle c30U . When we need to drill a hole on the side of a block ,the part is turned in such a way that it is placed not towards operator but in the opposite way ,thus making it impossible for operator to see what `s going on . I am wondering if there exists a parameter or code to keep it towards operator only regardless to the program code .I know that mastercam post does it ,but we have lot`s of parametric programs that to change will be pain in the a$$. Best regards . Alex .
  17. I enter by plunge 90 degrees helix zero mm no error every day. You do not understand what you really want and are looking for some sensless widgets like Lucy in the sky with diamonds. But still who cares. If you can not be creative and looking for someone to chew all the things for you out that`s sure not me. BR
  18. jUST INPUT HELIX RADIUS ZERO PLUNGE ANGLE 90 DEGREES AND THAT`S ALL HTH
  19. Hi ,folx Makino MGF sinker Edm I am new to this machine , I need to EDM undercut moving electrode in x axis direction. Also I would be interested to know how to prorgam it edm in xz direction according to the angle and final coord I have tried to get it with the use of the manual but without success If somebody can sent me a program to have a look on and modul plan data I would be vere , very grateful and even can dedicate to him/her some poem or two . Best regards , Edm dumbass
  20. being without mu2 working with x7 sp2 ~~~~~~~~~~ ...assuming the mirror feature works ~~~~~~~~~~~~ has some ugly issues Beware BR HTH
