  1. Our VCP600 has the 42k spindle w/ HSK40 taper. It is ill suited for roughing and removing large volumes of material. It is perfect for our use in graphite machining and hard die milling. We use the Mikron for these tasks exclusively. We have other CAT40 machines for the heavier cuts. If you need more versatility in a single machine you'd probably be happier with the 20k HSK63 machine. Just depends on your work and what you expect the machine to be able to do. Our VCP600 has been rock solid reliable. I think your opinion of Mikron machines will change. The HSM700 was a machine ahead of its time with a specialized xxxx control and suffered the reliability problems associated with state-of-the-art technology. Get the probe regardless of the spindle you select. It's only money. Select the spindle based on suitability to task. Don't compromise your spindle decision in order to get the probe system. It's only money, It's only money, It's only..........
  2. I'll send you my Mikron post. It is a tweeked version of the mpheid.pst from the CD. We have a Mikron VCP600 w/ 42,000 rpm spindle doing 3D in graphite and hardened steel. The post is conversational, supports arcs in 3 planes, supports codes for dust extraction, air blast, oil mist and oil mist extraction. I've been using the post for 4 years. I have some minor issues with the post that began (I think) with the latest MP.exe v9.19. I'm sending some info to Jimmy. If we work together and exchange information and stay on Jimmy's a** , maybe we can both end up with the ultimate super-tweeked Mikron HSM post.
  3. If it were not for drivers like Tony, would we bother to watch? He drives to win and says what he thinks and beats the hell out of anyone that deserves it. Don't get in his way. Would you rather watch Terry Labonte, Dale Jarrett and Mark Martin politely passing one another for 4 hours and then hearing how pleased they are with their top 15 finish, their wonderful sponsors, and all their polite competitors?
  4. Our older Agie Wire EDM uses a similar program structure. A .GEO file is the NC code to cut the shape. A .JOB file is the main program that takes care of positioning and calling of the .GEO file. Your command file is VERY similar to our .JOB file. Our post for the older Agie does not support .JOB files and you may have a similar problem with command files for the Charmilles. Several years ago we had a job requiring 300 precise holes in a plate. There was no way we could type all those locations without a mistake. I edited the drill cycles in a Fanuc mill post to create the .JOB file. Something like this: pdrill "MOV,", x, y, e "CCF, HL1.CMD", e pheader ";SPA,X0,Y0", e ";SMA,X0,Y0", e "ROT,0", e ";MPA,Xe,Ye", e ";MPR,Xe,Ye", e ";CPA,Xe,Ye", e ";CPR,Xe,Ye", e ";CEN,X0,Y0", e ";ZCL", e Once the post is ready, simply select drilling, window the points and you're done.
  5. Sounds to me like you are using mpwagie.pst which creates .geo files. For the Agie Excellence machine using the AgieVision control, you should be using the mpwagevo.pst. This will create the .iso files you need. It is on the installation CD.

  9. jagourley, Yes, I have found this feature does not work with ramp cut. Does anyone know why?
  10. RStuart, Which machines are you considering?
  11. Code_Breaker, Is that an Enigma machine? You program CNCs with that thing?
  12. The website is relatively new and still needs a little work (lots of typos). I feel that the capability of any company is defined by the abilities and limitations of its employees. Getting the right equipment in place is the easy part. It is for sale. Simply go buy it. It is the man that will ultimately determine how well the machine performs.
  13. I have received 5 resumes through the forum. I continue to appreciate the forum's ability to connect and communicate with talented people...

  20. I had the same problem with a post for Heidenhain. The problem was definitely (maybe?)in the post - correct feedrates in the .nci but not in the .nc. I most often noted the problem is Surface-Rough-Pocketing toolpaths. I could not find the problem in the post. I've recently begun using a new post for the Heidenhain - so far so good.
  21. It is Norton Live Update Notification. A window popped up, then moved down after a few seconds, leaving artifacts on screen.
  22. I have the same question. I am using the generic driver for my Fire GL2. Works well but I thought I might try the Solidworks optimized driver. It would be better though if someone else tried it first and let me know how it worked out
  23. Do not confuse the Fire GL cards with the other offerings from ATI (Radeon, etc.) intended for gamers. The Fire GL series cards are professional workstation graphics adapters with excellent OpenGL support. I've been using a Fire GL2 for 2 years on my system with "Zero" problems. The graphics card IMO is not your problem, although you should make sure you have the latest Win2K driver.
