  1. Woah, calm down Iakander. I have been very busy with house renovations, and as a result, my internet access was somewhat limited. The customer has other issues to contend with at the moment, and this current issue will be dealt with at a more appropriate stage. I'll let you know how they get on, once *I* know more. So put your black book away.

  3. There's a charge to exchange a parallel port HASP for a USB one, is that correct?
  4. Iskander, I'll have to talk to the customer tomorrow. From memory, when we tried it, we had a 6mm tool in the spindle, so it should have been fine. It was a strange error "Check Customer Documentation" I'll check tomorrow (I'm at home now :/)
  5. Iskander, I'm sorry for the delay in replying. I've been snowed under with work, both here at home, and at work, so I haven't been on here much :/ Anyway, I tried this sample code out of the Siemens manual: N10 G17 X100 Y100 S300 M3 T1 D1 F1000 N20 Z8 N30 CYCLE90 (8,-20,0,-60,0,46,40,3,0,50,50 N40 M2 The control returns the error with the above code (thats straight out of the Siemens manual) ARGH...Give me an Okuma any day....:/
  6. Iskander, I've got the customers post sorted a lot better now, thanks to your, and everyone elses, input. Thanks everyone! I have one question: Have you ever used the Cycle90 thread milling cycle? The machine is apparently equipped with the option, but if I type in the sample from the manual, it errors up with a code like "Error in cycle. Check customer documentation" The machine tool supplier is adamant it is equipped with the option, but even with the sample from the manual typed in, it doesn't work. Can you shed any light on this?
  7. Thanks everyone for your replies. It's clarified the format for the drilling cycles, and hopefully the customer will have everything sorted. Again, thanks for your assistance.
  8. Thanks Iskander. I need to know: Does the code have to be output like this: N1030 R0=0 R1=0.7 R2=2 R3=-20 R4=0.5 R5=0.7 R10=45 R11=0.3 N1040 G83 or is this ok: (The following is how the post is currently set to output) CYCLE83(155,150,1,5,145,10,50,20,1,,0.5,1) Cheers
  9. Yep, thats why I want an email contact. I need some sample drilling cycle programmes Any help would be appreciated Cheers
  10. If anyone here has experience with these controls, could you please email me? I'm running through a post setup for a customer, and I need to check the drill cycle output, to ensure its correct. I have the MP_SIEMENS post from Inhouse, but I'd just like to double check the output Thanks
  11. Hehe....My memories are of Wile Coyote and the Road Runner....I still laugh at those cartoons. And the coyote bought everything from the Acme company...Jet powered rollerskates, explosives etc...Acme must be one hell of a company
  12. Here's wishing everyone on the board a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, from down under. Its certainly been great on the board this year, and lets look forward to another great one. The workstation is off, the machine is shut down, and the beer is out of the fridge
  13. Jim, Welcome aboard. I'm down on the Mainland Mick
  14. I'm curiouse. With the OSG lollipop cutters, what kind of undercut can you achieve? say on a 6mm ball? I've yet to find a good supplier down here
  15. I thought being crazy was a prerequisite to be a member here..hehe...if thats the case, I should be site administrator Cheers, Mick
  16. Thanks for the replies guys. It seems that its relatively simple to insert this into the post, which is what I needed to know. Cheers, Mick
  17. Hi there, A local shop, who is considering purchasing Mastercam, has some questions regarding the application of MAstercam for their machine. Specifically, they use a "Torque" function on the machine, as shown in the sample file HPCCANO2070-Torque.nc which I've uploaded to the Text and Post Files and Misc. section of the FTP. As I'm not conversant with this function, nor very little of Custom Macro's I'd appreciate an opinion from some of the more experienced users on there. Is this function easily adapted to a suitable Y axis post for this machine, or is this in the realms of custom posts? Cheers, Mick
  18. James, He should know better He's actually the local reseller :0 Cheers, Mick
  19. Wow...he didn't even get flamed...you guys must be mellowing..heheheheheee I think I'm the technical guy he's going to pass that info onto...uhoh...looks like more work in pipeline But, right now, its 9:00pm on Friday night, so I'm sitting back with a few quiet ales Cheers, Mick
  20. Well, it turned out that it was indeed a parameter setting. The customer ended up machining the part, and it came out great. Thanks for your response Cheers, Mick
  21. I prefer this colour to the previous one. The "orange brown" I found was harder to see in certain lights.
  22. Hi there, I'm working through a problem with a customer. They're using Axis substitution, to machine an auger. The toolpath back plots ok, but when it posts the A output has very high values, up to A6205.23. It appears their machine doesn't like A output greater than 360 degrees. Is there a way for the post, or indeed Mastercam, to break the moves along this contour so there is no A output greater than 360 degrees? Somehow the contour needs to be broken, because an example move has for example A4317.305, and on the next line the A value is 5308.228, which is a rotary move of 990.923. I've uploaded the file in the MC9 folder on the FTP, as ZOOM SCREW.MC9. Any help would of course be appreciated Regards, Mick
  23. If you're not using your Y axis, could I have it please? I could sure do with it on our Okuma LB25! I'd send you a coouple of dozen beer! Sorry, I couldn't resist a crack, as its the end of the day, and I'm tired from staring at a computer screen all day Hehehehe...
  24. I did a knurling toolpath in Mastercam yesterday, and used a Finish toolpath, and defined the tool as a external grooving tool, with the width matching the width of the knurling roller. It worked a treat. Cheers, Mick
  25. Plastav, I checked out the file, but I see the gouges are still there. I've tried different syncing, but it hasn't helped. I'm beginning to think that maybe its something in the model. Millman, Let use know how you get on. I'll see if the customer can check out the model Cheers, Mick
