I got cgtech guy at my shop yesterday, he gave me a MC2018 plug-in built  6/20/2017. He tried Vericut 8.1alpha release but there were nothing really new...

Vericut 8.1 does have some new features, but it isn't scheduled for release until August I believe

I recently set up 2 different 5 axis posts and a 3 axis post to run an angle head. I beat my face on my keyboard until Colin pointed me in the right direction. You an do it your way and literally fight it and make hand edits forever or take the 8 minutes to create an aggregate and move on.

    Totally up to you.

    Hi Jeremy,

What is involved in configuring a 3 axis post to support an angled head? I've just had a customer enquire about this, and I'd like to be able to help them out.

Pretty sure that isn't an option anymore on the newer machines. I was a pretty cool concept, but the guys Ive talked to from DMG-Mori were less than impressed with the whole setup. Very few cam systems supported it.

I've got access to a machine simulation model of an NTX 1000 with both the upper and lower turret. I agree, a pretty cool concept. That tilting C sub is sure different :) I played around programming some parts on it, and it would sure be neat to have access to a physical machine to experiment with it.

I also heard somewhere that the machines weren't so good.

I need some help from the Okuma wizards here on eMC

    I've got 2 Okuma 5X machines here

#1 an MU1000-H horizontal trunion machine

it has an OSP 200 control

We routinely run files that are 40mg + with no trouble at all

    #2  a VTM-1200 5 axis vertical lathe

this machine is fully 5 axis capable and has an OSP 300 control

to date the biggest file I've successfully run on it is 683K

I just tried to load a 6meg file and get an error.

Error # 5211 Program Buffer overflow

Help for this error say the program is too big and to reduce file size to 30m

I assume that means a tape length of 30 meters

A chart I found online says 40 meters is 16K so that can't be right

This is a full 5x machine.. some people are building impellers with them

It seems ridiculous that I'm limited to 700k

Did we get low balled on memory??  Is there a setting I need to change or memory I need to buy?

I'm working on a complex 5X mill turn part...

the roughing file posts at 6 meg... finishing  at 14 meg

Its time consuming and dangerous breaking files like this into 600K chunks

    Any ideas ???

Are you loading the programme (programme selecting) via A, B or S method?

  5. Thanks for the reply Jay, that is the info my customer needed.

Like newb said, it is funny that none of we long term users can answer the question fully, but like gcode says, it is probably on purpose to get you directed to a reseller./salesperson. Which is fine of course, unless your salesperson doesn't know the difference between toolpaths...... just sayin' :)

  6. I had a customer of mine ask me this morning, about the capabilities of Mill vs Mill 3D. They wanted to know what they could or couldn't do with their Mill license.

I know there used to be a comparison chart available, but there seems to be little or no information on the Mastercam page. Does anyone have any further information?

A Production Candidate is just that.... a proposed first official public release.

They will let it stew for a couple of weeks and if no major problems are reported it will be declared RTM (Release to Manufacturing  I think??)

At that point they will start burning install CD's  putting data on USB drives and mailing them out to customers

If someone reports a deal breaker, it will be fixed and there will be a PC2.

    Special Southern Hemisphere Fiss :)

What . they are wishing. The HSM has not grown much sorry. what it does it does well like always. But you need to look at what you need it for and will it do what you need. there is more power in Mastercam for sure.

As it turns out, it is tricks in the post that allowed to achieve something. But twin turret synching? Forget it. HSM hasn't got that power, and that was a CAD jockey talking out his a**.

There sure is more power in <insert your software here> than HSM :)

I just went on an interview at a place that is running a Haas horizontal with tombstones and a pallet changer. He is programming with HSM. In his words it "sucks". He is now considering new software. Has to do a ton of editing by hand.

HSM? As in InventorHSM or HSMWorks? That's strange, one of the local reps told me that software was capable of programming a U3000 twin spindle, twin turret, b axis mill turn. Surely a horizontal  with tombstones would be a walk in the park for such powerful software... *cough* :)

  10. It is an unfortunate situation that can occur, when using misc values for controlling machine coordinate ouputs. I agree with everyone here, in that you should regen to ensure the values take.

I've been burnt a number of times, and so much so, that I avoid using misc values wherever I can. Unfortunately, sometimes it is unavoidable.

I heard yesterday that there IS a Matsuura dealer in New Zealand. I'm trying to find out who and where.

Global Machine Tools. They have a few Matsuuras up and down the country. Adn they also sell Doosan. They push Siemens NX pretty hard. They're almost an NX reseller.
