Won't touch it. It has the word "cloud" in it.
Autodesk would love it. They love the cloud and everything about it.

I haven't tried the latest Coroplus (mainly because I everyone I have heard of installing it, finds it a slug). Coroplus is just Adveon renamed (well, that is what I was told).
I've had success with an earlier version (Adveon 1.5.4.56), but I found that a later version (1.5.6.24) didn't work. It didn't seem to be me, as I had the same issue at a customers site as well.
I'm using it to interface with another CAM system that shall not be named ( ), and it works perfectly. I haven't tried it in MC, as I don't really need to.
I haven't tried the machining cloud, though I heard that Adveon/Coroplus was going to be part of that but nothing seems to have eventuated.
It seems like Adveon/Coroplus was released way too early.

Mike,
Check your email. I sent you an operators manual for a Hardinge Sub-Spindle lathe.
Thanks Doug. The manual you sent is for that exact model (GS250 MSY), so that will be an immense help. They sure seem to be programmed a little differently

Most FANUC lathes are, G55 on the sub and Z+ into the chuck
Thanks Greg. I'll test it on the machine. Me, I much prefer a G140/G141

Hi there,
Has anyone here programmed a Hardinge Fanuc 18i sub spindle lathe?
If so, how is the sub spindle origin defined, and how is this programmed in Mastercam? Also, is Z+ away from the sub spindle, or towards it?
I'm trying to assist a customer, and the machine supplier isn't being much help
-
Face interpolation? You mean coordinate conversion function? (G101/102/103)?
Where have you been?

I swear that MC must have a set number of features, and when they add something new, they have to take something else away to make room
It seems to get worse with every release

In times like these we miss our friend Tim who would give us the final word...
Aint that the truth. Right now, Tim and I would be having a great chuckle about a couple of things that have occurred. It is in threads like this, and times like this, that I really miss his input.

i like mazak myself (we've had some issues on the last 4 or 5 we bought tho), always been a pretty decent machine. Mid range price wise. I've never been around a j machine but if I understand correctly they are index only so no 5 axis paths.
Thanks for the reply. Yes, that is correct they'e index only. 5 degree index standard, and 1 degree index as an option. I believe the customer considers the 5 degree option to be suitable enough. I'd personally opt for the 1 deg, but I think it comes down to budget.
You programme yours in standard g-code, correct?
-
Does anyone have any feedback on these machines? Good/Bad/Otherwise?
I have a customer considering one, and I really know zilch about Mazaks.

I'll throw my hat in the ring, but the disclaimer is, I am a Vericut reseller.
I totally agree with those opinions of Jon Prun. Jon is one of the most honest, unassuming owners I have ever met in the CAE world. I've met a few (some well known ones), and Jon really stands out.
As for the product, Vericut didn't get where it is today by not being good. All software has its pro's and cons. Just look at CAM software. Service and support go a long way, and stand out way longer after the taste of a good price has gone. All those things have to be considered.
I'd check out all the products, and use your local support. It is all good to have it demoed to you by a principal miles away, but it is when push comes to shove and you need someone to help quickly, that the support shows through. That often comes up in conversation from my customers (in all CAD/CAM/CAE products)
*Edit* Sorry, I mis-read the topic. I thought you were considering NC simulation in general. I'll be quiet LOL

I hear you guys, but again we were green coming into this and relying on people that obviously didn't know we needed to know detailed information instead of used car information. No offense to used car salesman, but it is what it is. I agree totally with standardization.
We have success thanks to Tim Scott of postibillity . We are still working on some kinks but on the right track. He looked at all of my MD, CD, POST from his end and we are not getting the same code. Mine was starting at C90 (in 4 axis) and his was starting at C-90. His code was what i wanted but i can't match it even now. He will look on my computer to check any other differences there might be that we missed.
thanks for all the help, and continued help. Y'all are the best.
You're in good hands with Postability. Dave and his team rock

We have Cimco DNC Max, and the DNC server emails me whenever a file is sent back to the server from the CNC machine.
Cimco can utilise a trigger to send an email where necessary. Your local reseller should be able to help you out there.

Triple post Aaron?
Thanks for all the input everyone. It seems to me that a mixture of sitting and standing makes a lot of sense. Our local supplier has a suitable electric sitting/standing desk, so I think I'll plonk for one of them.
I'll provide some feedback when it happens
-
Yes, I'm leaning (no pun intended) to an adjustable desk, one that electrically raises and lowers, so I can vary the position during the day.
The general consensus seems to be one of sitting and standing variably.

Added about 40 hours of work to the project, but yes I always figure out a work around you should know me better than that my friend.
Haha, yes, that I do know you. At least you have a workaround. Some users of whatever software don't have the luxury of having a workaround.
One company I have dealt with, actually sends out bugfixes and enhancements to post processors. No secret squirrel, member of the club access to get those. That, I like...

Ok, so I'm not sure where this would go, so please don't flame my poison ivy a**
I'm curious who here uses a standing vs sitting desk. Or a desk that does both. I've read all sides of the stories, and I'm keen to see some kind of feedback here.
I'm about to fit out a new office, and I have to start sorting furniture

Yes when one company just about every week is sending out fixes is that a good thing or not? I am still on the fence where the right balance of fixes is, but just getting something to do what I need how I need when I need it is proving to be a real test of patience.
Well, one company I deal with sends out fixes about once a week, maybe every second week, but those fixes typically include one or more enhancements. I can live with that. But, if you have a bug that is holding you up, and isn't being fixed, well, yes... That is a test of patience. No workaround provided?
-
I think most of us here accept that there is no bug free engineering software. It's how those software companies handle those bugs that is more important.
And we all typically use the various software in different ways, so some of us find bugs that others don't.

I had an NC file once that was 210mb, and that was without line numbers. It was a huge wax die, that almost filled the table of the machine, with lots of fine detail.
I pushed the button at 4pm on a Friday, and came in on Monday morning, and it was all done, with no issues. I sure felt relieved.

The part we are using as a standard for quoting this machine uses 5.5" round stock.
Ok, that is a big chunk of stock to barfeed I'm only used to smaller diameters
-
What size bar are you looking at running?
We have an Okuma U3000-1500 2SW (Twin spindle, twin turret). Its a great machine.
Can't give you feedback on the post, as we use TopSolid for that machine.
