Hey every, So, I upgraded to 2018 today, and after a bit of a rocky start I've come across a problem. The problem I'm having is with chaining Wireframe, I've used mastercam for over 10 years and know exactly how chaining wireframe behaves. In 2018 it is not behaving the same. I click on my line at where I want it to start and which direction, and it puts the start point 2 entity's away chaining in the wrong direction. So I think "Oh my chain must have a gap". So I trimmed everything and it's fine. Yet it still won't chain correctly. I can correct it after I chain, but If i have to correct it EVERY chain that doubles my programming time. I played around with the options under the chaining tab and nothing changed, I played with the chaining tolerance under Chain Manager and nothing. Any Ideas? I imported the geometry to 2017 and it works as it should there.

Is there a way in Mastercam to create geometry that will output G00 rapid moves when used as chain geometry? It would be great if mastercam would recognize particular curve fonts as rapid moves. For example, a solid line when used as chain geometry would be recognized as a feed move, but a dashed line would be interpreted as a rapid move. I often create my own toolpath geometry in Rhino/Grasshopper and I tend to create additional geometry to link passes together for optimal toolpath motion -- see attached image for example. It also means that don't have to click on multiple toolpath curves - the attached example is pretty mild in this regard. If I could make the linking geometry a different line type -- say dashed -- so that G00 moves would be output instead of G01, it would be an very useful feature.

I'm still using X4 and have noticed this issue for years now all the way back to V8 and through several different computers. Once I have separated and labeled my mold components to levels as well as the wireframe and surfaces accordingly. I Rotate the part to the top view for machining, old school. Every once in a while there are several entities that stay behind in the Rotated move. Ie: rotate, all, wireframe, 180. I thought this was due to the file not being saved and on previous versions i believe this to be the case. Now, the only cure i can find is to exit Mastercam completely, thereby forcing a complete save (if needed). Also it seems the save icon only saves the NCI file? If you have had this phenomenon happen to you please share your findings... hardware, software, settings, procedure...

Hi, I use Mastercam 5 router pro level 1. I received a drawing in .dxf file for a 3D job. Unfortunately they did not send me the wireframe, and I only a 3d shaped drawing with 9454 broken lines. I am not able to connect the lines and keep the shape and I don’t know what to do. I rather stay within my capabilities, and pay somebody else to do these drawings for us unless there is a simple solution. Anyone interested
