Kind of a quick n dirty fix for this would to create a surface to act as a "floor" and put that however much below the part you feel is needed. then just run a opti-rough off of a stock model and let it do all the hard work. If you're running high volume production (which I never do) then I am 100% positive there would be a more efficient way of going about it, but I usually program for high mix low-ish volume so I'd opt (hehe) for the opti-rest/rough.

  6. Recently purchased a Haas 210 Trunnion. Trying to pocket without plunging into my vise. I have MC 2024 3D Mill. The only Toolpath that I can somewhat get to work is Flowline but is cumbersome. Is their a toolpath that can stop at the floor of my solid ? The images show a Surface Rough Pocket Toolpath. Thanks Everyone
  7. In the code you just posted, there is nothing in that code to change it back to ABS....G91 and it never commands a G90 I don't know what comes after the toolchange but if there is not a G90, that is your culprit

  12. Hello all, I'm cnc programmer for an aerospace company in California. I've never had a need to learn about lathe broaching having mostly been a mill programmer. But, now have primarily a lathe programming position for a DMG MORI 2500 c/y axis lathe. I'll be doing criss drilling using c/y axis for both facing and cross drilling but also broaching Im not sure which tool path in mastercam to use for the broaching tool path. Anyone who has input on which mastercam toolpath to use would be of great help.

  14. thanks riverhunter. This machine is not using a specially assigned M-code, just your regular 'M6' N24 G91 G28 Z0. W0. N25 G28 X0. N26 G28 B0. C0. N27 G28 Y0. N28 T21 M6 (T21-.375 X SC X 1FL SLOW SPIRAL ENDMILL)
  15. if they have a custom tool change, then yes... it could be in there. example. instead of T1M6 they call T1M206. inside the 9xxx programs linked to M206 someone for whatever reason could have added a G91 inside.
  16. Sorry for repeating, as I know this issue comes up from time to time. But I would like the benefit of others experience on this one. I am programming remotely for a machine that I do not have access to and am unfamiliar with, MAZAK Versatech V140N. Here's the issue I am trying to resolve:- The Vericut machine I am using is sent home in 'Z' with G0G91G28Z0. The machine then performs a toolchange. TXXM6 The Vericut machine, without reading another line of code, then switches from Incremental to Absolute, for no apparent reason. And here's the problem, the next line of code G28Z0 sends the machine into overtravel. Unfortunately I have ran my mouth off, and told them that in my experience a Toolchange will not cause the actual machine to switch from G91 to G90, and that there is not a problem with the code, but with the Vericut Toolchange macro. The solution is to add a line at the end of the macro, which I have tried and it works. "GCTECH_MACRO "ModeIncremental" However, this is not my Vericut machine or (ICAM) post, so I can't go making changes, I can only state my opinion. Now I have strongly expressed my opinion, I am wondering if I am on solid ground. Does anyone know of a machine that a 'TXXM6' would affect a change from INC to ABS ? Thanks

  21. Hmmmm....I'm old enough to remember MANY requests going back to the X5 beta days which were spoken about as "great ideas", yet left on the cutting room floor.... And as for "feature fixes"....
  22. It is possible with macros, as long as you know where the part is within .4" (10mm). You have to set some variables to compare where it should be to where it is, and then add/subtract the difference to XYZBC. I don't have examples of code, but I have helped debug some of that code. And I think there are parameters/code to activate the probe so if you are further than .4" it will sill work. You will probably have to work thru one axis at a time, and then go back thru them again. The compare is if the actual value is different from the set value (offset) by less than an acceptable amount then continue, if it is greater than the acceptable deviation then adjust.
  23. Your toolpath should be the regular Mastercam thread mill toolpath with rotarty output set to C axis. Then post it using face mill interpolation. If your posts supports face mill interpolation, you enable it with a mics integer. However, I would be very surprised if you were actually able to mill a good thread. The kinematics of a C axis VTL table working with the X and Z axis is not ideal for achieving good thread mill motion. In other words, if your machine and post support face interpolation you can output and run the correct code, but it is unlikely that your VTL will be able to accurately turn this code into smooth and accurate motion.
  24. I have a casting that is slightly off and would like to probe and adjust axis or pitch, yaw and roll so the machine starts off with the casting in the right orientation. is this even possible on a HAAS UMC750?
