I am working on a tombstone fixture with multiple parts. My problem is every time I try shading it takes at least 5 mins. to shade. If I make a change to geometry, another 5 mins to shade.It is a Pro_E converted model. I am new to Mastercam and would appreciate any advice.

THANKS!!!!

Joe !

Welcome to the forum ! cheers.gif

try tweak this setting

screen->surf.display->shading ::>chord height to bigger value

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
. Under Parameters, specify any of the following settings:
¨ Chord height. Enter a tolerance value for calculating surface shading. A lower tolerance produces smoother, more precise shading results.
How many surfaces do you have ,what`s Ur computer specs ?
How much memory U allocate for database
Also try this
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The File, RAM-saver option speeds system operation by freeing available RAM (memory) by permanently removing all deleted entities from the current part database to compact it and by regenerating the display list to speed graphic display. You can also automatically delete duplicate entities if you want.

Important: After you use RAM-saver, you can no longer use Undelete to restore deleted entities.

After you run RAM-saver, Mastercam tells you if it changed the database, the amount the database decreased, and asks you if you want to save the changed database. If you choose to save it, you can save it with the same name, which overwrites the original file, or you can save the changed file with a new name.

1. Choose Main Menu, File, Next menu, RAM-saver.

2. When prompted, choose one of the following:

¨ Yes to delete duplicate entities in addition to running RAM-saver.

¨ No to run RAM-saver without deleting duplicate entities.

¨ Cancel to quit the RAM-saver function.

3. If prompted, choose either:

¨ Yes to save the changed database. The Specify File Name to Write dialog box opens. Enter a file name, then choose Save.

¨ No to quit the function without saving the changed database.

Note:

¨ You can set the amount of RAM allocated to the database on the Allocations tab of the System Configuration dialog box. You can access this dialog box by choosing Screen, Configure from the Main Menu.

Hi folks I have Zipped this file and moved it into the MC9 dir.

the file zipped is 65megs so you know.

I gad to bump allocations up to 128,000

or it taxed my hard drive when bring in.

after that came in fast and no issues.

also it still takes about a min half to shade the hole thing.
