I'm not sure if I understang what you are saying, but if you set up your autosave the way they mention here, you should be able to open that file and get your info back. When you close a file make sure you don't have any suppressed operations in your solid. That is what causes the warning many times.

Backing up files has beea a problem for me also.

I don't use autosave, I manually save my geometry in two seperate files on two seperate partitions or HDD's.

I will close the file, then re-open the file I just saved and check if everything is good before I save the second file.

It seems like a pain to do, but if you are working on a file that you are constantly having to edit in some way or another, it will save you alot of grief.......

Do a search for Rekd's Script and James Script. They have respectfully written them for .zip and .rar application and from what I have read they save using a method that will keep the time stamp on it and erase the one beofre it so you do not have a clutter of files in your folders. You might also look to using an alternative place for saving files verse the root directory that way you could alwys have the fiel you srated with until you save it and a back up of the same name in another place when you have those time you want to see soemthing or od soemthing but not have the orignal file saved or rewritten at that time.

Unfortunately you must know how to run scripts and be fimiliar with VB to use those bonk.gif

Murlin teh VB stupid frown.gif unable to take advantage of the power of VB frown.gif

Now what would really be cool (I have said this before), is if autosave would give you two seperate prompts to save a file and you could get two diffrent paths going idea.gifrolleyes.gifbiggrin.gif

Do a search for QSAVE.vbs. There are step by step instructions on how to set it up, assign a quick key for it, and what it does. It doesn't make dated backups, it just saves the file in the last saved directory *without* asking all the questions...Do you want to overwrite...Are you sure? We use it on all of our seats.
