useing the break option

I have a circle that's 13ft6in in dia.

I'm cutting it out of 5x5 sheets of 3/8

i have the circle drawn but need to be able to break it up in order for it to fit the material.

you could use modify, break, many

or break it at quadrants

or draw radial lines at angles where you want them and break at intersetions of the arc and lines

In Mastercam I would draw your 13 1/2 foot circle and also layout the 5 x 5 pcs as you want them. Now 'Modify - Break - 2pcs' and pick the circle and then the 'Intersection' of the 5 x 5 pcs and the circle, Repeat until done.

Draw you circle inside your sheets, then you can break right where the cir, meets the rectangles

analize the arc. you will see the breaks if any, if not use modify break, then let the mouse find the intersections and just click

One way to check results is to click Delete and wave the cursor around over the geometry and watch the entities highlight. I sometimes carry out a delete to see what goes away, then undo. If you roll the mouse roller to zoom in-out after the delete, it repaints the screen but still allows the undo.

 

Pick the arc first, then the intersections.

You want to end up with a number of individual 5 x 5 sq's with a rad across one or two corners, yes?

 

After you have the layout of the circle and sq's, you need to break the circle at each point that the circle crosses or intersects the edge of the sq's.

 

The next step would be to 'Screen-change levels, copy' each sq with it's radius to it's own level. Now you should have a number of levels with a different sq + rad on each level. Turning off all levels but the one you are working on will allow you to cut each part as a separate piece.

That's exactly what I sent him Harry. Except I put the 0,0 in the center of each piece. All he has to do is move the 0,0 any locations he wishes.

Woodshapes, please tell us what version of Mastercam you are using and which product you have. Router, Mill, Lathe, etc.

 

Also what ver of Windows.

 

Have you talked to your dealer? He should be able to get you going in the right direction.

If you want to see where a contour is broken, you can use SCREEN-ENDPOINTS (S,E). Then escape without saving points.
