Dell 64-bit Precision Workstation

Has anybody tried Mastercam with the new Dell 380 64-bit Precision Workstations yet?

Been thinking the same thing. I am about to get a new one for home and been looking in that direction but worry about 64bit giving Mastercam a fit.

I running one now. I've got graphics card issues but other than that it's running Ok.Got it back in Nov. P4 3Ghz 1 gig ram.

 

I forgot to add....the Graphics cards a Nvidia Quadro FX500/600.

My bad guys I just realized that this one isn't the newest 64 bit Intel it's the P4 model like the now 370

We have a couple of workstations on order from Dell. They are telling us delivery will be first part of July. They've been ordered 2 weeks now.

 

Thats unusual for Dell, but I assumed it had to do with the 64 bit system.

The 64-bit Athlon computer seems to be very FAST.

 

I have not read if there are any issues with the 64-bit Intel chips.

 

I am waiting for the dual core chips to be in production for a few months before changing systems.

Ok boys,

Heres the config for my new PC:

*Precision workstion 370 pentium4, 3.4 ghz Intel EM64T, 2M L2 Cache, 800FSB, CX19M71

*2GB, 533MHZ, DDR2 ECC SDRAM Memory, 4X512, Dell pre 370

*nvidia Quadro NVS 280 PCI-E, 64MB, Dual VGA, Graphics card, Dell precision 370

Great computer except for the video card.

 

The NVS line of the Quadro's are aimed at "office use" (word processors, spreadsheets and so on) and not for heavy-duty graphics apps like CAD, CAM and DCC. For Mastercam and/or any CAD software you may have, you'd be better served with one of the Quadro FX cards, instead of that NVS one. For what it's worth, Dell offers the Quadro FX 1400, 3400 and 4400 for the Precision 370's.

Quadro FX 3400: will do the job better than the 1300

I've got the FX 500/600 and have issues with it so I'd advise a better one. I'm trying to get an upgrade thru our IT but man what a bunch of bs just to get what I need.

I've never had issues w/ the fx500.

I was just informed I could'nt use it though.

FX3400=$1150.00, FX4400=$1550.00

Not free, AFAIK. I think it was Slashdot that I first read this on...installing Windows XP x64 may void your hardware's warranty (read).

regrind, we just bumped to the quadro 3000. it helped a little in MC(still a little DOS looking) Pro/e loves it.

It's the 370 instead of the 380 but it is 64 bit processor.

You mean the FX 1400 and not the NVS 280, right?
