Program numbers

Sure David, that works...but it's a bit tedious to do that for every prog, and redo it every time you adjust an offset or something. The logic of moving it from V9 location escapes me. For the new age of SFP, it seems a crazy idea. With V9, the post picked up the Prog no. from the toolpath and gave the program that name also. If can pick the Prog no out of the NCi, that will save one step.

Yes, but you have to set it before you start creating toolpaths. Otherwise you have to use the change program # right click option to get it to stick.

If you do one machine group and each toolpath is a different program then you need to use the right click method and change program name and change program #. It's the only way I am aware to do it this way.

DavidB,

As far as the setdir chook, I'm pretty sure I read on this forum that it is coming back in the MR-1 release.

Who uses one prog number for everything

I do.

One machine group is OP1

another machine group is op2

and so on.....

Each machine group allows me to set a new program #

How hard is it to right click on your op and set a program #?

Is it different yes, but it changed because the way MC handles the entire tool pathing parameter box has changed.

If they had changed the interface and the way it looks everyone would then be complaining about that.

The software is evolving.

Perhaps not quite as smoothly as it could but it is evolving.

Yeah why change it from V9 has been a large topic of diccusion lately. Mastercam get bashed for taking to long ot go to windows then they get bashed for going to windows then they get bashed for not doing some above what every other CAM software or any software comapny can not do and make something perfect and bug free. With that said I wish alot of things were different but I ask this how many of you have had to write programs long form for 4th axis work, 3d surfacing with out a CAM program. I did it for many years and it sucks so do you want to go back to no cam programs or try to appericate what you got becuase you got something. I have really got to like X but still go back and forth between V9 just for thing we do around the shop. X does have things to get worked out but if it were not out I can just see the out cry of how CNC software does not care they suck and how dare they not have soemthing out. I will say this with some experiecne there is no way to keep everyone happy so you either do what works and keeps your company in business and hope that course gets you through the day and keeps you in business. Some peopple will appericate that others will hate that but such id the struggle of life everyday.

Off the soapbox.
