If you use the material manager and create your own material, mastercam will calculate it for you. I set it up for HSS, carbide, and use the user defined for insert tools. Takes some time to set up the database the way you want it, but after that it's just the click of a button.

I don't know how beneficial it would be for you guys. I have created the materials we use most. 403ss, H46ss, custom 450ss. Just open the material library, right click, create new. set a base sfm and chip load. say 100sfm, .003 chip for HSS cutter. If you want carbide at 300sfm and the same chip, you set the percentage to 300%sfm and 100%chip. A .006 chip would be 200%. Insert tools might be about 600%sfm. Is that clear as mud???????? Really not so hard to do. I am off for the weekend but I will send it so you can see it on Monday.

ME Consultant Pro all the way, it will make you calculate feeds and speeds on the fly, taking into consideration what scenario you are programing.

It has thread data, counter bored depth data, surface finish data, a quoting calculator that will give you a very accurate estimate, plus a lot of other stuff.

The nice thing about this program is that it already comes with a lot of recommended feeds and speeds, but what makes it very powerful is that you can customize it to your machine floor, in regards to your machines capabilities.
