Verify: Warning - zero length arc

Ahoy!,

This has been discussed before I know, but it is starting to really give me the $hi7s today. I have to click ok 20-30 times every time I want to verify something. Even a single toolpath. No ops are dirty, so was there a fix??

I had one of those today Bruce (first ever, actually)...

 

I got rid of the error by changing the start point of my chain... No idea why that worked though...

 

QC said it was fixed in the current "daily" build. Hopefully all set for X2.

Yep, that's the one David. My error isn't the exact same though. It just says:

 

Warning - zero length arc

 

No other info given. I have 340 ops in this file and am now starting to go back through it to tweak a few things up. It will take me all day at this rate.

when I got the same warning,

system tolerance was 0.0000002.

 

I've never touched the value of system tolerance..

 

And I restart mastercam or set the value back to 0.0002.

 

I don't know why this happen occasionally..

I've only gotten this error before when importing files. Usually IGES files.

It's a real pain and it's screwing things in verify and backplot for me. This toolpath has the ZERO length warning and when I transform it, it will not backplot correctly or verify correctly

 

 

See below the toolpath and it also transformed. The transformed toolpath will not backplot.It should be excactly the same as the referanced toolpath?

It looks like it verified OK but the error caught me by surprise, the first time I've seen it.

Where you getting this warning with a 2D contour toolpath with comp in Control?

I can't tell which paths are causing the problem as I get several of the errors no matter which toolpath I am verifying.

Mine was a 2-d contour. As I stated a little earlier, changing the start point fixed it...

This fixed my problem with the toolpath with the Arc warning being Transformed.

 

Strange I thought as ticking "optimise" in the toolpath parameters is supposed to stop gouges,but in this case it was the problem.

If yes turn it to wear or computer just for a test. I'd like to know if this fixes your toolpath?

 

Also if "optimise" was ticked untick?

I don't have any comp on this job. Bloody ITAR This one would be good for QC.

Do a save some with geom used in the toolpath and send it off to QC.

I thought of that, but the problem is that the frequency of the error depends on the number of ops in the file, 429 and counting. I might fiddle around with something simple and if I can get just one error I'll send it in.

I beleive you can get around this by having CNC Software sign a nondisclosure agreement

The non-disclosue wouldn't be a problem. The paperwork to "export" the technical data is, even if it is going back to the US where it came from. Our sales bloke has to make sure nothing is on the hard drive of his laptop when jetsetting just in case.

 

I'll look further in to it though.

are you changing from 5axis machining to simple 3d machining?...i have the same problem with V9 here ..when i change from 3d surface backplot to 5 axis machine i get errors...i actually have to shut MC down and come back in again just to verify or backplot one or the other...but i cant verify both as they come back whith errors on it and i have to hit the hold the escape key down just to get through it...by the way how is the weather ...miss brisbane by the way

Weather wet and cold at the moment I have a mix of 2d 3d and 5 axis ops across 38 different toolplanes and 6 WCS's. CNC have this logged as an existing bug cnc00020577.
