cut this kind of surface on router

I'd like to cut a surface the same as the picture

in the attached link, any idea how I can do that, I had never done that before.

looks exactly like what I get when doing a surface-rough-contour with a big step over.

It dosent look as pretty on my electrodes as in the picture though.

It's not s surface. It's a bunch of contours at different depths. Treat it like a 2d problem, a lot of contours at different depths.

Is surface rough pocket use region or surface,

region is intend to crash when asked for geometry.

The picuture looks like what you would get if you used a Surface Rough Pocket. However it was created, I don't know. I didn't read the page, I only looked at the picture.

 

If you wanted to cut that with a Surface Rough Pocket, then you would need a surface file to do it. I would say it would be very difficult for a beginner to create surfaces file like that. I'm not a Router guy so I don't know its capabilities or what a region is.

 

I think John Summers offers the best advice on this.

Perhaps that is an effective way to finish the part but you got to rough that thing out first.

this is exactly what I have been working on for a year it is not as easy as you think.

All it is is some lumps with a Surface pocket rough. I got the same thing on my head, let me see if I can find the pictures.

If you have a surface model could you not use "Surface Pocket Rough", forcing the step down to be equivilent to the level thickness of the relief?

I would ask have you Demo'ed art. I am wondering if it could put surfaces on these wireframes more effectively than any other method. Then if you have surfaces as each step or elvaution then surface rough pocket would be your best best to rough and finish though I would probley divide them into 2 operation and tweak the parameters.

I don't think Mastercam ART would give you enough control. At that point treating it like alot of contours may be the best solution. I would love a stab at this one.

This is a size:

 

x=2109.5mm y=1105.3mm z=119mm part with

1mm steps. total 90 steps.

 

I am going to use a block of 15lb density polyurethane foam, it seems so time consuming

to do this. is there a more effective way to do

it, I am wondering, have to work on other projets, not much time to do some testing.

What hind of router do you have and is it capable of 3D. Is it servo or stepper driven.

I have Precix router and I am using it to cut

surface all the times.

 

I have closed contours, contractor did this with region six years ago, I can't use it.
