MasterCam X2 & SolidWorks 2007

I have recently upgraded to SolidWorks 2007, and I am not unable to open SoildWorks files in Mastercam. I have X2 installed. I was able to open SoildWorks files when I had SW 2006, and Mastercam X.

 

I have downloaded the mastercam direct, and tried it, but it still will not work.

 

When I try to open a SW file in MCX, it says there is no parasolid data available.

What version of windows are you running it needs to be XP for this to work.

Try re-registering the MastercamDirect.dll

How do you re-register it?

 

I am running XP.

 

I did a search, but nothing cought my eye.

I just tried this again, and it says that either the file was created in a newer version of mastercam than I am running, or mastercam does not recognize this file type. It is a .SFB file

you should be opening a .sldprt file to get the model

Had the same problem when I went to SW 2007. You need to re-register MastercamDirect.dll

 

Do a search on solidworks 2007 it has been covered.

I think the problem may lie in the use of a registered .DLL that we install and Solidworks installs.

Please try this...

 

cd mcamx2commonsworksdata

regsvr32 swdocumentmgr.dll

 

The same thing can also be done via the Mastercam X Control Panel applet. Browse to mcamx2commonsworksdata and register swdocumentmgr.dll

I tried to do this via the Mastercam X Control Panel applet, and I get the following error.

I figured out what the problem was. I feel dumb now.

I was running Mastercam X MR2. I thought it was X2, so I installed X2 this morning, and it is working great now.
