yes I've used it. It was a top of the line card

in high end Dell workstations 3 or 4 years ago

Would a low end Quadro card give better performance than say a GeForce 7300/7600 card?

 

I m looking to get a Quadro on a $300 budget, is this possible?

Go for the FX 540 or FX 560. Looks like you can get one for around $250.

Check Pricewatch.com A Quadro FX 1300 can be had for slightly over $300.

just make sure your motherboard has the right slot.

 

If memory serves me right, the fx 1300 is pci express card and the agp 4x is not.

I was going to ask is the computer have AGP or Pci Express you need to check that first.

Quadro FX 1100 is AGP. We have one running dual Dell 24" widescreens in a Dell Precision 650.

White Slot = PCI

Brown Slot = AGP

Blue Slot = PCI Express

 

If it's AGP you'll have to verify the the speed an *x card in a 4X slot will work but not as fast as it would in a 8X slot. The age of the pooter is very much an issue here.
