Why not just run in format 2?

So far, I have not found any advantage to Format 1.

Just a preference I think. Thats how they run in a shop I work with.

No sense changing what they do.

You just stated a problem and I gave you an easy fix.

Ron, you are right that a G49 moves Z up - G49 is length offset cancel , so ,G49Z0 is same as H0Z0.

Format 1 will ALWAYS send the machine to home position at a M2 or M30. there is no way around it other than a branch to prevent it from being read like Hardmill provided.

The benefits to format one are in the way that fixture offsets are applied: In format one, you need a movement to apply fixture offsets ie:

FORMAT 1:

E1 - does nothing

E1X0 - moves to X0 Y and Z do nothing.

Format 2:

E1 - moves to current postion (G91X0Y0Z0)of E1 coordinates. so, if you are at E0X.5Y6.Z-2. you will move to E1X.5Y6.Z-2.
