remachining on corners

Good day all.

 

I haven't used remachine for so long I can't remember how to change to the next cutter.

 

I'm roughing a surface...pocket milling...1" cutter. I want to use a 1/16" endmill to clean out the corners after.

 

Can someone tell me how to select the second cutter for remachining please.

I don't know all the ins and outs of the operations available to rough multiple surfaces, sorry I can't help you here. I would seriously recommend using at LEAST one more cutter size in between your 1" and 1/16" though.

yeah the 1/16 will get u about two passes before it snaps..lol..

I'm unclear if your using a 2D remachine or a 3D leftover. More info would be helpful.

 

As the others have said, I would add another larger cutter in the middle somewhere. If you're using 2D remachine, you can use multipass to cut it all out, IIRC. But I would still recommend a larger cutter (or 2) instead.

When using "Pocket", select option on 2nd tab for "Pocket Type" to be "Remachining". Then set for roughing tool size.

If your pocket is all surfaces you can use the 3-d Rest ruf high speed path and maybe you should add a 1/4" cutter before the 1/16.

I am using a 2d remachine, and I'm milling a rectangle .060 deep on a piece of ABS plastic.

I need to clean out the corners and whatever else the 1" cutter leaves behind.

I tried changing to a 1/4" cutter, selected remachine, and selected roughing and finishing passes, but I'm still confused about how and where to introduce the 1/16" cutter to clean the corners. Still learning ...patience is a virtue!

keep in mind that "pocket" remachining doesn't allow for lead in/out ... "contour" remachining does ... choose wisely ...

Select pocket and geometry again and on the remachine page select roughing tool diameter

and put in the 1/2 cutter Mcam will calculate

the area where the 1/2 cutter could not go

Make another operation. Chain the same geometry as the previous op. Select the 1/16 cutter. In the drop down dialog box, select remachine. That should do it.

I had to do a pocket remachine because a contour remachine wouldn't clean up the whole corner.

 

That worked perfect.

 

It's real hard to remember those things when you don't do this everyday.

Both contour and pocket remachining allow a lead in/out. Even if the finish box is unchecked, MC still reads the lead in/out values.

 

I only use controur remachine anymore. Pocket remachine doesn't keep tool down. It hasn't since V7.
