X4 freezing and crashing when enabling 'tip comp'

My current project is over 40 meg

containing 60 solids and over 300 operations

200 of which are drilling ops with and without

tip comp. I've been working on the file

off and on for a couple of weeks and it has never

froze up or crashed. I turn tool tip off and on

all the time.

Furthermore I absolutley refuse to turn down hardware acceleration. I pay big bucks for high end Quadro cards and I will not turn them down.

So far X4 has been rock solid. I had some crashes

in the early betas, but the last beta and

the current public release have been rock solid.

2 things to check..

make sure you are using an X4

tool library

make sure you are using an X4

machine def/control def and post.

If you open an X2 or X3 file in X4

the X2 or 3 machine def/post and

tool library are still active and

it can cause you trouble.

You need to load an X4 machine def and

tool library.

disappointed... I'm no professional software engineer by any means, but I wish there was a little more QC before a new release. Someone inevitably has to pay for lost time, am I supposed to include that into the quote, MC crashes and lost data??? Just frustrating...

I started a new thread on this subject not knowing this one was here until later. I did what gcode and the others said to do in this thread and everything was fine until the end of the day yesterday, when I clicked on Tip Comp, MC crashed and burned. I made sure that I'm using X4 tool library so now I'm stumped. banghead.gifmad.gifconfused.gif
