X3 to x2 mr2 sp1

Im starting a new job on monday and they have 2 seats. They have 1 programmer and he is using v9. They have x3 also but are not on maintenence. At my last job i went to x3 but becuase of some bugs decided to stay with x2 mr2 sp1. I was wondering if you need maintenance to go back to x2 from x3 until i get a feel for the company and am able to get them on maintenance to go strait to x4. I dont want to go in there demanding maintenance.

afaik the only way would be if they bought X2 to start with.it sounds like the bought a second seat and started with X3 is that right.

 

the other way would be to upgrade V9 to X2.

Not exactly sure. I will know more once i start working. Hopefully i can get them to upgrade at least to x3 mu1. I hope i can get them on maintenance. worse comes to worse i can always stick it out on x3. At least i have a job right.

AFAIK, you can use any version UNDER what you have now.

That would be nice. From my limited experience the mu's are way better than the initial releases. Thats why i want to use x2 instead of x3 until i can get on maintenance. I really like the new toolpaths im seeing in x4 though. Cant wait to test them out.

 

Cant wait to get back in the saddle after a couple of months unemployed. Hope there are not alot of rust spots on my brain.

If they have X3, you can go all the way back to 9 if you had to. Might need to contact their reseller to get installs

X through X4 is on the Mastercam support page.

It sounds like your taking 1 step forward and 2 steps back...

If you can down load the Mu1 patch for X3 it works well and theres not all that much of a learning curve.

Mu1 will be available to your employer depending on when they let there maintenance go.
