Jon works in a not for profit faux "shop" that doesn't actually manufacture products. They have a few worn out Haas VMCs, and at least one incompetent lunatic that they use for extremely complex machining...like drilling holes in plates.

 

Company has 13 billion in cash, yet a tiny little shop like mine has machining and inspection equipment that's lightyears ahead of the junk that Jon struggles to use.

He probably thought he was posting under one of his other names. When you have that many it gets confusing.

Yep, we get pretty much the same thing with IGES going from Mastercam -> Cimatron. STEP on the other hand results in good data going from Mastercam -> Cimatron but it takes a LONG time in comparision to importing STEP in Cimatron from, say, Solidworks.

 

In any case, to reiterate, good practice is to use IGES only as a last resort these days.
