Creating Mass points

Hey Guys i made a post yesterday about creating geo from G-Code and i got alot of helpful responses, but now i have another question. If i have about 5000 vertical lines (i created DXF from G-Code), is their a way to create a point on the end(s) of each of those lines, like a mass select or something? Thanks in advance.

Create point endpoints. It doesn't get any easier than that.

I didn't either. I just looked under the Create Point menu.

don't tell us - next you want to make a surface from those points

well....ok, imagine this. A .250 thick piece of clear plastic with about 5000 holes drilled in it. now fill those holes in with paint. Now the customer wants to see only those filled in cylinders..i am running out of ideas. Now sure how to get those without alot of manual picking..

make one and use xform rectangular array for the other instances

hey Mike, well the problem is that the point spread is in no way uniform. I never used the array function before, let me try that. Thanks.

Do you have Mastercam Solid license?

 

If yes, It is easy !

 

Solid > Extrude > pick 1 hole and click new chain feature (auto pick up the rest of the same holes DIA) > OK > Enter .250" > OK.

Hey mike, that Xform template worked great, thanks! And Pat, i havent tried that either, but i dont have holes only points, would that still work? i will try that too, thanks for the help guys.

You tell us you have "holes Drilled"

 

You must have circle to do that. I rememmber we used to have (PTS2ARC) C-hook Create circle from point.

Hey Pat, i used points for the hole geometry, i didnt want to create 5000 holes if i didnt have to. Just used a "window" to select all of the points. Sorry for the confusion.

In this case you have to.

 

Use PTS2ARC C-hook Create circle from point.Just used a "window" to select all of the points & put Dia of holes.
