My question is how or why it is even a factor now.

I will try any thing to remedy this issue.

Finding an assigned temp folder and now an obvious

machine group bug should not have anything to do

with one another.

In X2 MR2 SP1 never an issue of this nature.

I have only seen this issue in X4MU1.

Upgrading to newer software that I pay dearly for

should never cause so much grief.

This is the maintenance update right?

They really have to get a grip on making updates/

versions or whatever to be compatible with itself.

The architecture of the software seems to be

imploding on itself and is only gonna get worse.

To top it all off, I now get a 5 sec lag now

I am going to try another video driver update

and see if that helps or makes things worse.

peon if things keep going south.

Back up Every thing in MC

1. Uninstall MC.

2. run a reg cleaner.

3. Reinstall every thing.

4. Do not migrate or use old config file.

5. import and tool libraries etc.

6. Uninstall and reinstall video drivers.

7. reselect machine defs in every mach group

everytime you open an MC file

8. Do this on every p.c. that you, use.

9. Good Luck.

It may be a short term solution.

So far I am having a good Run. 20 minutes and counting.

Neither did I but it justified the 20 hrs I have lost since thursday night. As long as it doesn't start acting up again.

Funny thing is my p.c. at home which had all the

trouble over the weekend is a freshly formatted rapter drive two weeks ago. Every thing was fresh?????

I think the MU1 update IS the problem, but what

do I know?

Tool maker no show, so I've been setting up cnc's

all morning, I'll keep ya posted if it continues

to have stability.

I'm trying to find a common thread

with the people having crash issues.

X4 MU1 is rock solid on all 5 machines

I work on or maintain.

To me a lot of crashes are more than 1 or 2 a week.

Some of you guys are having two or three per hour.

If you are having frequent crashes..

did you

1. use migration??

2. drag and drop your config file from somewhere else??

3. import operations from previous releases into

X4MU1??

I think all three of these could be responsible for some of the trouble people are having.

#1. No

#2. No

#3. Yes

It would really suck to have to redo all my ops for #3.

Why is MC not compatible with itself?

Never, in all my years of programming, have I had issues like this from release to release with ANY

other software.

I will continue importing paths and let you know

if and when it becomes problematic. 40 minutes

without a crash and counting.

Why don't we create a bug/crash forum?

We can make it so only registered maintenance

customers are allowed to view and post similar the Enhancement Forum. That way the it won't hamper the Sales end of CNC's Software.

As of right now A reseller cannot help you with

The bug and crash issues that are aired in the

Main Forum.

Ok, I haven't had a crash relating to the temp file since last Wednesday. The imported toolpaths even worked fine as of Friday and today. Last Wednesday evening, I Defragged my hardrive. Hopefully this had solved the problem (for a little while anyway).

Rick

Sometimes when working with large files

I'll get that lag.. Its gets worse and

worse until its unbearable.

Rebooting the machine fixes it for me..

edit:

after thinking about this..

I need to clarify my post.

The last time I got bad lag,

I'd been using the Xform STL function

to move some large STL files around.

Rebooting the machine fixed it..

Since then, I've been working with the same file

for a couple of days with no log

Hey Rickster, try decreasing MC RAM allocation back to 50% and see if that cures the lag problem...(after you get your work done of course)

I would also like to know if when you start getting lad if you are paging...

I feel your pain and sympothize with your lost revenue...

However this is a good thread...now I know what not to do..

laid or lag? biggrin.gif

The One...I can't multitask doin..., the other... I don't know how

to check the paging. wink.gif

I only started getting lag, on my home P.c., after

the 300 meg mark. I brought the file to work, did

all the uninstall and reinstall proceedure and the lag started shortly after opening the file, here at work.

So I assume its file size related. Tomorrow I have a job that should not get passed 50 meg mark.

So I will let you know it it is there when I start that file.

gcode the lag came back shortly after createing a few path after reboot.

Cheers

Rick

Rick, it seems you and I happen to program very similar model and file sizes. I ALWAYS get the lag you are talking about when my file sizes get around 250-300mb. I don't think there is any way around that. On complicated models with a lot of machining, I almost always program from two models. The first model will contain rougher and semi finisher toolpaths and the second model will be strictly finishing.

Hey Rickster...lol..ya I meant lag..

If you press Ctr-alt-del, you can pull up the task manager and look under performance...

If you are working from your HDD in the pagefile, you will get terrible performance..

Look at the peak colum, that tells you how much memory your system has asked for.

The paged colum will tell yoi how much RAM is alocated for the Pagefile, usually it is set around 1.5 the amount oF RAM installed.

If Windows is set to default it will constantly be changing your pagefile.

Set it to a hard number in the performance page of your hardware profile...

With the task manager open, alt tab when you get lag, you can watch the numbers tic away..if they are moving at all in the page column you are paging and MC and XP are fighting each other for resources...

Since you have to save your file and get no crashes when you merge, I would suspect memory handling as the culprit..
