X4 MU1 Crash Regenerating Toolpath

Rick, when you copy a toolpath from one group to

another, try this.

Use Edit Selected Operations/Change NC Filename

and edit the operation to match the new

Machine Group BEFORE doing any edits, geoemtry

selections or regens..

If you don't, the NCI file is still linked back to the

OLD Machine Group and that might be the cause

of some of these problems

Good Tip.

I believe the order i did it was as follows:

(my standard procedure)

-Create mac/group, tool/gp

-highlight pats in 1st group

-right click drag to new group

-repick mach/def

-pick new tool/gr with newly copied path/change NC

filename

-save

Start editing common and indiviual tool parameters

along with selecting new geo.

This is how I do copied paths from one group to another. I used to import right from the file

I'm working in. Either way it has always worked.

The x4Mu1 error is my nemesis.

I get all the good ones eh?.... wink.gifbiggrin.gif

Rick,

re: Indexing

Is enabled by default during a Windows install.

1st;

My Computer -> right click local disk drive -> properties -> uncheck "allow indexing service to index this disk for faster searching" -> and let it do its thing. May take a while depending on the amount of data on the disk.

2nd;

Turn off Indexing service and prevent it from starting automatically at boot up.

Start -> Run -> services.msc

Scroll down and find the Indexing service. Stop it. Right click on it -> properties -> set startup type to disabled.

I also disable system restore from the system applet in the control panel. Then check to make sure the service is indeed off in the services console. That [insert four letter word for feces here] causes nothing but headaches and uses resources.

Rebooting didn't help now I am screwed

I a have been trying to make a path for 2 hours

and have had 5 crashes and no paths.

So now I am convinced they changed something

From X4 T X4 Mu1 that they either cant remember

what they did or there it is buried so deep

that they cant do anything about it

What ever it is I am getting nothing done today

and I might have to stop using X4 all together and

go back to X3 if THAT one doesn't start doing it.

X2Mr2, who knows.

maintenance....what does this actually mean????

The best news I have is that I checked my permissions a an administrator account and it

seems that they are not as permissive as you might think.

earlier today i opened and old X2 Mr2 Sp1 (in ver X2)file and guess what

happened half way through my changes and regenning.

I got the error.

-dbl click my computer

-click tools /folder options and scroll to the bottom

-uncheck use simple file sharing

Then

-right click local C: drive/properties

-click the security tab

-click on your user name

-under allow all the boxes have to be checked

-if not click on full control then they all will

-hit apply and wait till done

then above the administrator user another

admin/your user name will appear and repeat

those steps to make sure you have full control

now when you right click any folder like your mcamx4 folder , hit properties/security you can click on each user name and all the (allow)full control boxes will be highlighted.

Before i did all this only some of the boxes wer checked under allow.

I formatted and setup windows and installed all my software with administrator permissions

and for some reason have less control then I thought

Check it all out ppl

once again so far so good

why did all this start with X4 MU1, i don't know.

I had CNC tech for a few hours sharing my desktop today, trying to sort stuff out.

I'll keep ya posted

Rick

BTW i processed 6 path while type this post wink.gif

Rick, when you installed, did you do so logged in as Administrator, or as you with admin rights?

I think that if rights are an issue, you would be better served to take ownership of the root of mcamx directory than to "just" assign permissions. That way, any future files and or directories created will assign full rights to you (owner).

MS permissions can be a little crazy, with assigned vs effective rights, and what is trickled down as files and folders are created.

I hope you have it sorted out... cheers.gif

I was sure I did it all as administrator, but I did

have a user name as myself, that I don't remember

creating. Either way i DID Have to allow the

permissions on both p.c.'s here at work and at home.

So far so good. I am designing for the day today

and I will be back at gramming a bit this afternoon

or tomorrow.

Peon, No. They just ask if it fixed the issue

which I won't anser untill a few week of grammin

and no error.
