Warning that is Dead Wrong

Look at Op 38 and 39 in the ops manager.

Do you see the same tool # or even the same tool?

They are different.

Anybody else get this problem?

I am saving and closing MC and reopening to see if

THAT fixes it. Then I guess I'll try repicking the corresponding cutters and regenning.

Usually it does this only when it is actually the same tools.

.

I sure hope I can remedy this as not to have to stay late again tonight rolleyes.gif

Close and open did not work.

Repicking did not work, until I pick completely different tool hit check. then picked the proper tool and selecting only those 2 paths and regenned.

The warning did not show up and the post program used tool 3 and 4 respectively.

So I pick the tool group posted the whole program and it did it again.

now What?I gueuess Ill pick the 1/2" ball and regen. then pick the 1/4 ball agian and regen???

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

So op 39 and 40 use the same tool. That, along with the toolpath type in the error message tell me that it's just confusing the op numbers.

The reason I asked if the first op was listed as op1 is because if it wasn't, then that would explain why MC thinks it's 38 & 39, not 39 & 40.

Just for grins, right click in the ops manager and turn off operation numbers. Then turn them back on and repost. See if you get the same error.

I had the same problem with a Lathe file today, kept telling me I had the same tool for different ops, but I didn't?? headscratch.gif

I re-numbered them as well... and it went away.....

I just upgraded to X4 MU1 from X2, I had the verify problems as well, I just played with the lighting, it seems to work now.

Food for thought

Was the tool selected, copied and edited in the op manager tool list and not in the tool manager ?

meaning you selected T3 (1/4"Ball), edited it to be T4 (1/8"Ball) , accepted the make of a new tool which applied it across all ops that had used T3

Should you make the tool in the tool manager, which would then put the "new tool" in the op manager's list prior to selecting the tool to use ?

Well, I shouldn't of trusted it after renumbering.

Chalking up another loss because the renumbering

failed and I didn't check every path to make sure

it did it right

1- 1" em ---3 paths ops 1,2,3

2- 1/2" bm ---2 paths ops 4,5

3- 1/4" bm ---2 paths ops 6,7

4- 1/8" bm 1" ---2 paths ops 8-9

5- 1/8" bm 2-1/4" ---3 paths ops 10,11,12

6- 1/2" em ---3 paths ops 13,14,15

7- 1/8" em ---1 path op 16

8- 3/16 spot drill ---1 path op 17

9- #11 drill ---1 path op 18

Instead of changing tool 4's to 5's and tools 5's

to 6's. It decided right off the bat to change

the tool # of the 1st two 1/8 ball cutters that

were clearly the same cutter. So it continued and

ran the 1/2 inch em instead of 1/8 ball.

.

wrong2-1.jpg

.

emcrash.jpg

.

The night shift set up programmer just happened

to be checking it part way in to the 1/2 em

disaster.

So in short the renumbering of tools renumbered

2 - 1/8 ball cutters with 3 different tools.

Verify is useless for this problem because it

was programmed the right cutters.

Ho Hum, a costly one this time.

Well, I spend a 1/2 hr sorting out, manually changing tool numbers, re picking the cutters.

I regen the last 6 2-d paths, no problem.

I check the 4 surface paths and hit regen

and look here what shows up?

Back to the drawing board.

:deep breath, letting out slowly:

I'm pretty calm, eh? wink.gif

My morning routine is as follows:

-Open office door.

-down a large coffee while rebooting P.C.

-empty new and improved Temp folder rolleyes.gif

-open MC then open target file.

-repick machine def in the group that i will be working on.

-say prayer, hit regen. wink.gif

So After I got the error, I repeated all that

and did the changes right after i hit save then

regenned....all good now......cept the insert...

Thanks

Rick

John, I can't get pissed off, Its beyond that.

I might drive head 1st into traffic if I let this

bother me any more than it has. Ya see, its a pride

thing when I make a mistake. Not getting my

bonus due to MC related losses in my department is another.

If I act out of line, they will ignore my

crash/bug threads all together.

Seems they are just ignoring them temporarily, for now.?????????

Will they change there policy on software updates

vs. patch fixes? probably not until their sales

and lack of renewed maintenance really starts to

affect them and Their Resellers.
