I found them cleaning out my desk.... Now if I only had my Dos box with the 5 1/4" drives.....

Just in case your disks have gone bad, I have a set also. Would you like 5.25 or 3.5" floppies. My 5.25 go back to V3 but the 3.5" floppies only go back to V7. I also have a full set of CD's starting at V5.

 

That's not counting the crap I threw out before we moved.

I think it is Ver 3.11 had a Parallel port Dongle...

I recognize those disks. I was programming lathes with a calculator and a text editor on a 286 pc. This was despite the objections of the lathe programmer/supervisor who was a mean old sumbit who thought the sun rose and set with Smartcam. Anyway, I had seen a box with Mastercam on the side of it buried away with some old reference material. It had been bought along with the rest of a failed shop at auction. I thought what the heck, so I installed it, played around with it until I could make a working program with it and the rest is history. BTW I found the interface completely logical and easy to dope out. In sharp contrast to Smartcam which I found to completely bass ackwards after Mastercam.

I remember if I was running Windows 3.1 I had to close it down and reboot my computer... then start MC.

 

Otherwise MC would Crash.....

 

Some things just stay the same !!!!!

 

 

Not saying that I have that many problems but some seem to, here on this forum....

Yes. With the DOS Extenders so you could run the 700KB Mastercam.exe file in our mighty 386 computers with 1MB of RAM in EGA mode (640x350).

 

NO I DONT MISS THOSE DAYS.

I was at a customer today that is still running V3 Wire on a 10MHz system. Brought back memories, mostly bad though.

Amazed that old thing was still going. His other seat is V9 SP2. Wanted me to see if CNC would add some functionality to V9 for him. Hard to bite my tounge to keep from laughing on that one. (until I left)

Eric, its been a long time since you last cleaned your desk.

Sounds very familiar. I tend to keep and love my junk. you never know when you're gonna need it.

Yea. I just threw away my Compact II manuals a few months ago. You can imagine how may times I needed those in the past 30 years.

 

I should have kept them. You never know when APT programming will come back.

Did anyone ever use or see clearcut mill? It was made by anilam. It was almost identical to mastercam if i remember right.
