I've been using MC now for over 2 years and just finished a cool project (for me anyways) at work. I just wanted to say thanks to all those who have helped me over some hurdles in the past, either by directly answering my post or responding to others. This forum is THE source for MC topics. Happy holidays to all who contribute. Here are some pics of the latest project.

Created in Solidworks, brought into MC:

Surface finish Radial to semi finish:

Surface Finish Blend used on 90% of the finished surfaces. Here's a shot of the nose end of the part.

SF blend on the shaft end as well. The fixture and the clamps were created using MC. I even surfaced the clamps to mimic the part profile and provide minimal clearance for a 3/16 BNE and holder:

The finished part, soon to be polished before flash chroming. All surfaces done on a 8 year old Haas VF3 without the HSM option, 60 ipm @ 7350 rpm. The Makino was tied up. Some of my step overs were too fine, but the rubber bands holding this machine together are getting old. The end justifies the means in this case.

I don't know the actual machine that it goes in, It is for a ammunition manufacturer though. Maybe it goes in the kitchen, IDK. Your correct, not cast but cut from billet and prototype also. We get a pretty penny for that one. The CAD side was tougher than than the CAM was. The lathe hands and OD grinders were probably on pins and needles with this one.
