Guest CNC Apps Guy 1

1099 means YOU are TOTALLY responsible for ALL Taxes! Fed, State, SDI, FICA, etc...

No insurance, no benefits, NOTHING! No Worker's Comp either usually. You are an independant contractor.

You've got that right. smile.gif

Obviously you are up against a language barrier with most shops out there, and many of those shops are willing to put up with that BECAUSE they think they "can" save a buck. No offence, just the way some people think. It's tough working with people that dont speak english very well, (and some that do)...you tell them you need something dead nuts, and they come back with squirrel food.

I'm curious about your resume where you state:

"Capable of post program and set up:

- Haas, Mazak 680 Mill , Kitamura , Okuma, Akira Seiki (Mitsubishi),

- Heidenhain, Heian Sharnoa Tiger 4, Mitsubishi., Milltronic, Supermax

- Matsuura, Dynamyte 2400, Multicam, Boston Digital, Yasnac, Mazak EIA

- P&W Viking Teammate 6400. Triac, Kearney & Trecker

- Anorad(flame cutter), Linde(plasma cutter)"

Yet in your experience, a lot of those machines aren't listed.

I'm just saying, that if a potential employer was looking at that, the two dont tie up, as the majority of experience listed is with Haas machines, and no Okuma's, Matsuuras, Mazaks etc. Being able to post process for these machines doesn't mean you can programme and set up for them.

I'm a Programming Supervisor, and these are the kind of things I look at.

If you understand and can read g-code, then you can move from one machine to another very quick. Sure, each machine has certain codes that others may not and certainly the controls will be different, but an experienced person can adapt very quickly.

No offense Supercar. I believe you have very good skills. I understand English is a tough language to learn. For what it's worth my wife is Asian and I work and deal with lots of hardworking Vietnamese Americans. I am sure you will find a good fitting position at some point. Best of luck.

that doesn't neccessarly make anyone a pirate.

back in 2002 I took a job at a pretty big shop.

20 VCM's, 4 big HBM's 3 programmers 50 employees blah blah blah.

I was to replace a guy who wasn't getting it done.

They told me they were running V9 at the interview.

First day on the job I found out that meant

1 legit copy of V7 and 6 or 7 copies of V9 crack.

I'm lucky in that my wife has a good job and it was an easy choice to do the right thing.

I walked.

Had I been the sole wage earner with a pack of kids, that would have been a much more difficult

decison..crack software or hungry kids. headscratch.gif explain that to a 4 year old.

In the early 80's I worked for a guy who'd hire Vietnamese boat people, work em like dogs

and refuse to pay them. Couple of these guys were ex ARVN and very hard guys. It always amazed

me that he never got his throat cut.

We're riding super awful hard here.. sure his English needs work, but he's going to school, looking for work and trying a hell of a lot harder than a lot of guys I know, going on their second year of free Obamabucks.. how about we cut the guy some slack.
