why does my X4 MU3 takes 3 minutes to open every time i try to load the software

1st, Reboot P.C. (and in the future every morning)

Try turning of the splash screen.

 

Start/programs/mastercam X4/MCAMX control panel applet/startup/show splash screen/set to disabled.

 

This does reduce slow opening time.

altough, You have an unusually long time.

check in the log event. sometimes i got "file does not exist, name=C:mcamxstyle.dat mode=r"

 

when i got this error mastercam takes about 3 minutes to open

 

i really don't know where it came from....

I get that error in the event log too. Does not take 3 min to open. takes about 20 to 30 sec. i also get 4 more file open errors. file does not exist c:/mcamx4/common/prm/tool.prm mode=r

anyone know what this is all about?

this only started happening after i updated XP yesterday

I get that error also, but using Vista-64bit, but Mastercam opens in 11 sec. though. Thats with a 3DConnexion mouse also.

Mine wasn't as bad until about 30 minutes ago after I did what Rickster described above. NOW it even crashed on me. I did enable the "show splash screen" again then restarted my pc and since is being starting slower than before.

 

What do I do now to get it back to what it was

That's weird.

 

I have done this on many p.c.'s that run MC and

the only result I get is MC opening faster.

I timed X4 2min 17 seconds to open and zero errors on the event log file.

emailed QC and got this back

Just be careful and only delete the registry string listed below.

• Close Mastercam

• Start, Run and type Regedit

• Browse to “HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareCNC Software, Inc.Mastercam X4”

• Right click on the Mastercam X4 entry and select “delete”

• Close the registry

• Re-start Mastercam which will rebuild that entry

it looks like my fire wall was blocking the consumer feedback program

 

i simply deactivate the feedback and everything works like it should now

 

the problem came from an update of XP

Win7 without the splash opens in about 5 to 6 seconds.

im scared to delete the registry folder. what exactly does that do. Nothing of importance gets deleted?

it's simply restart mastercam as a fresh install

 

when it's open simply reload your personal config settings and personal toolbar state

I didn't have to mess with the registry. Just disable customer feedback and be done with it.
