NO, just like drill entity selection the list is sorted in the order it was created.

I wish that when you go to open a file and you pull down the file type... i wish THAT list was alphabetised. I HATE than list now.

The ability to customize that list would be great. I'd like to be able to remove at least half the items in that list and order the rest of the list as I see fit.

That's weird Bob. I've never had that happen. Do you have that menu tied into your right mouse button?

Nope. They recorded it as a bug at MU1 but it still hasn't been fixed. It is pretty annoying.

The mtb file is just a text file with some binary at the end of it. It may or may not be directly editable, but worth a shot.

If it is directly editable, that approach would be the easiest way to alphabetize it.

Sorry, but the easiest way is just go through the customize. Delete what you do not want and save that as new config file. Take the original one and back it up. Then just change it in there and that will be how it shows up on the screen. Messing with the file through the text editor causes all types of trouble in my experience. Using the customize is really not that bad. You can also create your own toolbars and name them what you want and make the system look unique to what ever you want. I teach this in my classes for Verisurf and people really like how customizable everything really is.

Yeah, that's why I said "if" Ron. I don't have my hasp at home this weekend, so I can't give the editor a shot right now.

 

I use the "customize" option myself.

 

I just thought it might be able to be done in the editor without raising some errors.

Rob, you and I know we start making suggestions and they fail people are ready to hang us. Sorry, but after all my years on this place I just assume not even lead people down a road that might get them stuck. If it is not clear sailing then I would rather tell them to stay on shore.

Although I do see the tool bars can be customized, I don't see an easy way to re-order the list like Chris was asking. It looks like you would need to delete the tool bar and recreate them in the order you want.

 

Am I wrong?

On days where you use 6+ different computers (not to mention a classroom with 20+) you learn to live with whatever is there and not spend time configuring it. However turning on a toolbar or two should be a quick no brainer, if you can find it in the random list.

 

It's simple stuff like this that will give users at least a little better program ergonomics, and at make it seem like a well thought out system, vs. the mishmash some of it is.

Chris, while I would agree, there is a lot more low-hanging fruit items that still remain broken with ZERO communication to when the fix will come.

Rob it is only because I can speak from experience. I have people tell me at work how smart I am and I laugh and tell them I am not all that smart, I just made enough mistakes in my life that I can use them to make a lot of my decisions from to hopefully not repeat them.
