Hello,

 

i'm new in programming lathe with mastercam (coming from milling).

What is the easiest way to program and run the green slot in the picture ?

Can i make it with groove or should i take milling toolpath ?

Wich operation is the best ?

Sorry that looks like a mill operation after turning od with the lathe. With out Y axis I don't see it happening without taper on the walls of the rib. you could rough it out on the lathe but then you would have to time it on the mill. would be easiest to turn then mill separate. You may also want to look at the radius at the bottom as well. That might be difficult without transferring the same radius to the rib. Not saying it can't be done but bringing in multiple tools for something like that might be overkill.
