Is there any way to NOT delete duplicate entities is XFORM/SQUASH?

Yes

 

Use XForm/Translate instead. Only thing is you'll have to know the distance in Z. (Or use 3D construction plane and use Between Points)

Boy, I don't think so. Unless maybe do it in 2 or more steps, select one set of entities, 'Squash', then select more and 'Squash' them.

I have over 9000 entities that need to be squashed to one plane. But I still need all of the entities. They are on six different levels. I ended up doing each level by its self. I guess I am looking for that "Faster better Better way"

Do you know VBS? If so you could make a script that will copy all the entities to a new level and squash them there. Or maybe a macro would be able to do it. (Macros are quite limited, so those functions may not be available.)

No I don't know VBS and I don't use macros all that much.

The easiest solution would be, go to a new level, turn ALL levels on, go to Screen/Change Levels, Copy. Select the new level, then OK. Select All/Entities/Done

 

Now open the levels dialog and hide all the other levels. Squash your stuff and you're off.

+1 to what Rekd said. Another option, depending on what you ultimately need to accomplish, would be to save your geometry to a duplicate file, and squash it there. Then you'd have 2 files, one 2D, one 3D. I sometimes do this if I want a working file and a 'blueprint' file.

If your using mc9 then select copy instead of move and it wont delete them

Hello guys,

 

I don't know which version you are using but the C-Hook in version 8.1.1 gives you the option to keep/delete original entities.

Welcome to the forum. Are you the same hardmill from CNCZone?

 

Speedy replies seem to be the norm here, sometimes you have 2 or more peeps writing the same reply at the same time. It's classic.

is it safe to assume on my part that V9 gives you the squash option in XFORM because i don't see it in my outdated V8.1.1. I have to use the C'Hook.

Correct, squash was a c-hook prior to v9.
