Solid model

Hi – I have a question about X5. When I create a solid model

 

From surfaces to use in verify ….. Half the model is missing.

 

This has happen 3 times now. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you create the solid in MC? Then you created surfaces from it?

 

I don't have X5 loaded sorry.

Sorry I didn’t explain better. The model was created in catia.

And I created the solid model in X5 from surfaces .I have never

Had a problem in the past.Thanks for any help .

I am not sure about Catia, did you get a .stp file?

 

As far as I know it works great going from (good) solids to surfaces but going from surfaces to solids can give some problems.

Why not just use an stl of the surfaces in verify, creating solids from less than perfect surface models is not fun.

If you have the catia reader then you should be able to read the part in as a solid and save the surface to solid step.

If you have a surface file, why do you need to create a solid in the first place? Verify works just fine with surfaces.

I perfer to use a solid to verify …. I haven’t had much luck using

And stl . Like I said I haven’t had any problems in the past till

I started using X5 .

So what format did you bring the Catia file into MC? Was it a .step/.stp or did you use a converter?

 

I have Catia on my laptop at home if you want me to save it as something else if you have the Catia file.

In regards to the surfaces that didn't convert into solids. Were they flat surfaces?

I save the surfaces as IGES and imported the IGES into SolidWorks 2011

It came in as a clean solid..

Saved it out of SW as a X_B and merged that back into your file

its on the FPT in the X% folder
