Data paths in config and machine def back to default??

No one has access to my P.C. my computer was off all weekend and

after opening an X4 file and saving as X5, I re-picked the machine def in a mach

group and the data path is back to default.????!!!!

 

I checked my config file and all data paths are back to default but other setting have remained the

the same as I changed them to.

 

Has any body else encountered this?

 

It used to happen in X3 and X4 occasionally but seemed to be fixed after the maintenance updates.

i still get defaults in X5 MU1 that dont stick or will change

if i merge a file i lose my EA manager settings and verify settings

its a real PIA

 

as for the MC/CD i have found that as soon as you set the data path hit save and then set the next path hit save

you get the picture

Tony, if we save our config file and .mmd on the desk top when they are working, can

we just drop/overwrite the effed up files and all happy happy joy joy?

 

Maybe as an enhancement we have CNC write a config/.mmd back up .exe

that does this for us?

my work around is... i have my config saved so i just re-open it and all is good in the config then

as for the MD/CD i have not lost any settings there yet but we do keep the MD/CD on the network here

I had the same issue. When upgrading to MU1 some Machine Def, Control and Post files were written over.

This is getting old really fast.

 

I closed a file yesterday, and opened it today and my config changed all by itself, AGAIN.

 

The only work around is every time you open MC you have to check, in you config file

that your Data paths did not change back to default all by itself! (then change it back again)

 

Please fix this bug if you indeed are going to humor us with an MU2 update.

I'm not sure if this matters but are you doing file/open or file/update folder?

Mike, for the most part, I open mastercam and go to file/click one the 10 recent ones

in the list at the bottom of the drop down. I have only been working on one file all week and

the config magically changed 2 times so far!

 

If it is not in the 10 most recent then I go to file/open.

 

Update folder i only used once, on the initial instal.

 

Are you updating the folder every time before you open a file??

(waste of time man, unless that is also changing magically)???

I don't update unless I know it's an older file. Like X3 or earlier. Most of my work is new every time.

Uggh, same here. I spend all this time making my toolbars. They are there when I open mastercam, but when I open a file from the previous day, default toolbars load. WTH?

Maybe CNC will chime in this thread.

 

I know we lose more time and money resetting these things(and many other tool op defaults)

then the 'Key Command' thread, but I guess that one has more relevance.

 

I would think that the save functionality in your config and mach/control defs would be as important.

Mine went haywire one day last week, too. I believe it may have coincided with a Win7 update.
