I was trimming a tool path and got this message ... total lockup ... can't save or save as ... can't hit an icon or files ... nothing, absolutly nothing ...

Window 7 (64 bit)

Mastercam X5MU1

Only other program opened was Outlook ...

Anyone else have this problem? What did you do to solve it? to prevent it in the future? etc.

I've had the same issue arise with XP32 and this helped, don't know why though.

Open MC, start with design, blank sheet. Do not minimize. Go to task manager, processes, sort by mem usage and check MC, keep task manager open. Now, minimize then full screen MC again and check the mem stats. Is there a huge difference?

Drove me nuts for a while. Simple SF contour and Flowline tool paths taking WAYYY too long till I figured this one out. I never had that problem before and I think it's something I installed after MC thats causing this, can't prove it though.

i noticed that too . a complex HST roughing path will regen faster than a simple surface flowline finish like a corner radius

Hi guys,

The reason that Mastercam holds on to its boot memory due to Windows functionality. Mastercam keeps all of that memory cached close to the processor so that it can maximize performance. Normally Mastercam is not used along with too many other applications. When you minimize the application the memory is not released, rather moved into the next level of cached memory, a little slower. We could override this functionality, but this is a really dangerous idea.
