Using a MAC computer

Hi,

I am looking at upgrading my system here soon.

Just wondering how many people are using MAC computers for Mastercam or Solid modeling software? If so which one is best?

How is the performance compared to a regular windows based PC?

Pros and cons?

Thanks in advance!

Hockey, there is a user on this forum that uses a MAC with great results but I can't remember the username. I argued with my 18 year old daughter for months about the MAC vs. PC debate. I wanted to get her the PC for college since I can help her in case of an issue. Well I lost that debate and she did get a MAC. I AM IMPRESSED!!! My next laptop will NOT be Window's based! Sorry I couldn't help you with Mastercam/MAC experience, but don't listen to the peeps that haven't used a MAC. Do a search and find the users on this forum using the MAC. My kid's laptop, with the proper software, can run most Window's based software.

It works fine - the thing is what Bear is talking about. You still have to run Windows on the Mac to be able to use CAD/CAM software, and as soon as you start doing that you take away everything that's fun about the mac (the operating system)

Since you're running under windows - pound for pound you can get a far superior system built than for the price you would pay for the mac. Plus, you can't just go to costco and buy ram for the Mac?

also, getting support for a mac, compared to a PC - for industry.. good luck.
