Glenn & all forum members,

quote:

Set the "Gap Distance" to 1mm and every stepover move larger than 1mm will do a full retract

It should go without saying that I believe this response to be worthy of a new section entitled as expert tricks & tips.

I am not playing up to Glenn biggrin.gif , but I do believe the time is right to flag the major benefit of belonging to this forum and to locate a cache for such invaluable information. Every so often a post or post reaction reflects so much more to the larger picture - however; this response can become easily missed, forgotten, or worse - never read at all. IE: the OT Coolant thread (who could argue the knowledge base and cantor?)

I know that I would probably add little to the mix, yet so many other members could well add volumns - please give this suggestion some thought.

The constant argument of cutter comp/how it works, negative stock allowances, thread milling, wear offsets, Wcs mad.gif , comm porting, hard milling, Mazatrol programming, etc! - every so often we ask a question and receive a solution that satisfies or produces a specific or winning result. Let's say we put this up as a new section or perhaps linking to satisfy a specific question or request.

In closing I ask, what is a vector in regards to Cnc machining? and please be specific for a prize. (A former student layed it out like poetry - Can you?)

Note: As usual, ChrisM is not eligible for this prize but his response could well be cherished! wink.gif

P.S. - winners that do not forward their mailing addresses are doomed to become abused in their Starfleet roles. biggrin.gif

Regards, Jack
