Multi Axis Scallop

Do you guys have any suggestions on how I could finish this part using multi-axis toolpaths?

I was thinking something similar to Scallop but tool normal to surface.

 

The green surface is what im trying to finish.

Have you tried a scallop and the "Convert to 5 axis"?

Is making the toolpath normal to the surf neccessary ??

I would think it would run much better in a 3D path.

Multiaxis, Parallet cuts or Parallel to surfaces. Both should work.

Got parallel cuts to work by using 2D containments, broken up into 5 different patches to keep tool down.

 

The example "convert to 5-axis" shows only tilting at walls, had not thought of using for floors, I can see where might come in handy in future.

3d toolpath would look nice, but part is 40" x 40" that would take hours if not days to complete.

Hum, I would use a perfect ground flat bottom Bull nose tool and do most of that with it then come back and finish the radius area using that surface as my normal control to then blend the radius nice all the way around and be done with it. You did not say material, but in aluminum with a decent machine maybe 2-3 hours and one for finishing. I am talking about all the gree area. The walls curve 5 axis using the surface wall as my normal control. Then top surface looks like a basic 3 axis tool path.
