Changing tool diameter changes toolpath settings.

Just got around to updating MC to MU2 from X5 MU1.

I've noticed that in changing a tools diameter after my contour toolpath has been made it will change my depth of cut, Lead in/Out, and MultiPass spacing that I've already set.

I know I've seen at least one other person comment on this in another post, but I can't seem to find it in a search.

Am I missing something here?

Forget it. I found the issue.

The problem was between the monitor and the seat. I had my toolpath config checked to "use tool's step, pesk, coolant". :wallbash: unchecked it and all worked out fine.

Glad we could help :welcome:

So easy, even a caveman can do it!

You'd think so, right... LOL.

Thanks for the help guys. It was a long day yeasterday, so I appreciate the "constructive criticism", LOL.

Now if I could only retrieve that MC file that I overwrote on the server....

Use the backup function..... Saved my *** countless times... I have it set to put the backup files on my C drive. I save the "current" file to the server...

Yup, I acutally turned that off not to long ago becuase I was working on a huge 5 axis part and the save kept interupting me at the most inopportune times. Forgot to switch it back, and here I am waiting on the IT guy to track it down on the Server Backup.

It'll be staying on from now on.

Most users don't use autosave because of the interupting but the backup is a lifesaver.

Agreed.

And I'm kicking myself in the butt right now becuase I switched the backup off along with my autosave when I should'nt have. I know better, just wasn't thinking.

I don't think it exists in the config.

In the ops manager

expand "properties" under "machine group"

click on "tool settings"

You'll see the option in there.

^I think thats just for the active file, if you want to change your default selection for this option you will have to goto...

Settings

Control Def manager

Operation defaults

at the top you'll see "machine group" and the properties just like in the ops manager, expand that and click "tool settings", change it there, save your changes and restart mcam.

What K2csq7 described above is correct.

I had it set the way I liked it when I was using X5 but forgot to carry over my defaults setting for this to X6.

  • 1 month later...

Had similar issues with this when I updated to mu2. Couldn't get tool table or config settings to stick. Probably. Just me being a div tho. Hence it didn't stay on there long and back to mu1. But since reverting back the tools step peck and coolant setting won't stick. So everytime I open a file I have to change it. I'll try the way described above tom.
