HP Z420 Workstation

Intel Xeon E5-1620 3.6 10M 1600 4C CPU

64GB DDR3-1600 (8x8GB) RAM

NVIDIA Quadro K4000 3GB DDR5

400GB SATA (1) SSD PCI (Intel 910)

500GB (2) SATA HDD 7200 RPM

Windows 7 Professional 64bit

 

1. The E5-1620 is an 4-core @ 3.6 GHZ, should i go for an E5-1650 6-core @3.2 GHz ?? (in turbo mode both are running @ 3.8GHz)
   
2. I.m.o. 32GB would be enough ??
   
3. The SSD is PCI connected, shold run much faster (2-4 times) then 'non-pci' ones, opinions ??
   
4. Windows 8 ??

Stay away from Windows 8, it's absolutely terrible in my opinion.

I have 32 and I max it out on stock models. Take the 64. I also max out my four cores on occasion, the six would be nice.

 

I wouldn't touch Windows 8 with a 10 foot pole. It's designed for tablets.

Winblows 8. If you like root canals with no pain medication then by all means get Win 8.

 

Sorry I really get blown away with their whole developmentally cycle.
