Creating Letters

I'm trying to create some letters in the ScriptS style but what I want is it to be in one line letters. What I mean is it is outputting in a box letter, which I don't want. Is there a way to make it NOT box?

I'm pretty sure only the stick font will give you a single line font. You can try a search. This has been hashed out before. Maybe something has changed during my recent hiatus from the forum.

MCX (BOX) FONT True Type R is what I use, and it's single line.

Yeah, I use what Jeff said. Where did I get "stick font" from? Did they use to call it that?

I know I can get single lines in THAT font. I want it in a cursive style font one line, like the ScriptS type font but not boxed. I can't see Mastercam not having that option I mean cmon. The price this software costs, you would think it could do the simple things.

If you don't have a lot of text, just modify the boxed letters to what you need. I do it all the time. You have probably used more time trying to find a solution than just modifying it in the first place.

Ya there isn't much text but how do you modify them? Sorry, never did that so don't even know what you mean. Do you mean like just start pulling the second line off?

You could probably get something fairly close by using Offset-Contour to offset one side of the letter to the halfway point.

 

If you know anything about raster to vector, you could try typing out the text in paint, photoshop, whatever, save as jpeg, then see how clean the geometry comes in. I just made that up so I have no idea if it will work.

Yes I have used that chook before. That is a good idea. I am going to see how it looks. As for offsetting the contour, I can't as the width is different all over the text. That was the very first thing I thought of doing.

PS look in the internet for he font you want add it to your computer fonts and you can use that. the true fonts on your computer may be less then mine for example if you use the full off suit you get more fonts then just adding word for example.

Thanks pip, they look good. Now when I go to create letters, how can I select those fonts? They are in stalled on my computer. Do I need to add them to Mastercam somehow? They are not in my choices but when I select "show more fonts", it brings me to the page to see them however I can't select them.

Do a windows search for fonts a mcamx6 common will pop up, open box and drop the unzipped files in there. Thats how i did it atleast.

If they standard fonts they need to go in the windows dir under fonts do a search.

No they are installed on my computer, I just can't access them in Mastercam

Under text, press the true type option. they should be listed right at the top of the list. The fonts start "1 cambam" ETC

lol, I got it. I was clicking on that but I assumed Ariel was first (A) and I never even bothered to scroll up. Thanks, these will work nicely.

I know I shouldn't complain about a free product, but I will anyway. These CamBam fonts don't support the # symbol.

 

Since I'm complaining, why does the Mastercam Box font create such a small # symbol? It looks ridiculous.
