Stock Model Toolpath

Hello everyone,

 

Wondering if anyone has some insight on why do you have to setup the stock view in the Stock Model Toolpath to TOP for it to display right. I am using a Solid Stock on a separate level on my Current OP1 WCS but if I setup the stock view to OP1 the stock does not fall in the right place. See attached !

It depends on what view the stock model was created in. If you create rectagular stock for op 1, then create a stock model for op 2 by saving the cut stock as an sTL, if you save the STL while in WCS of OP 1, then you'll be chasing your tail all day trying to get the stock toline up with your model. In X6 using the stock model toolpath, I haven't run into that, But if you always save your stock models in TOP view, it always works.

I made a solid within the MCX file, no STl; I am aware that the STLs have to be saved with the WCS they were machined in active. =)

Ok, what is a stock model toolpath?

A stock computed from selected toolpaths and material stock. It can be used like an STL but without the hassle of having to load an external file, you can also do a compare on the spot without re-verifying.

Cutting a STL saving it then calling it back up.

Stock model will also do an "STL Compare" like thing comparing against a solid, that you can actually move around and look at too. The only drawback with this is that a stock model with "Compare" turned on cannot be used as stock for future stock models, so you either have to duplicate or switch it off.

Oh ok. It's new in X6. I haven't seen it because I have a custom toolbar I grab all my toolpaths from. Will look when I get back to work.

No really, I should look at that. But I am still trying to learn the old features so new ones just confuse me hehe.

Any reason when I delete my Stock model toolpath...that the machined model does not disappear? Its obscuring my surfaces, and is actually out of date (ops have been updated).

you can turn the display of the stock model off and on with the Tool Display button

Yes, I am aware of that, thanks.

The problem is that even after I removed the Model toolpath from the Ops Mgr tree...the stock model has remained. And it stays there if I create a new Model toolpath and subsequently remove it.

In a nutshell, I always have one on screen, it will not disappear.

I did have the same problem a few weeks ago, the stock model was deleted but it was stuck on the screen and refused to disappear

What I ended up to do was to start all over again from scratch... I lost a whole day on that

Yes, I have had to do the same....looks like another Sunday down the tubes.
