How does Mastercam work with windows XP Professional. Does anyone have this

I'm using MC and XP, works great. Are you using MC and thinking of going to XP? If so, jump right in.

Recommended versions of Windows can be found here. But in short, yes, Windows XP Professional will run Mastercam great.

I use XP at home and use 2000 at work it does great on both. I also think you might want to go back and look at threads on Mulitproccesors and Hyperthreading if you are looking to that for speed. Just a Hunch is all.

We have Mastercam running on about 16 computer with windows XP pro and the rest with windows 2000 pro. Both have work very well.

I have xp pro at work. Everything is a.o.k.

 

works ok with xp home edition on my laptop at home. I run the design seat at home, also the demo. I'm addicted. Is it always this fun?

 

Can't imagine doing anything else. When time flys at work [hours seem to fly by] what else could I ask for!! I love MC. Its the bad. And XP jams, too.

Windows XP Pro on all 5 computers on my LAN. Works like a charm. I really like the ability for XP to stay up and running when a program tanks...

The only problem I've heard with XP Pro is getting the serial port to communicate.

 

The customer had to get a USB to Serial adapter.

 

Evidently some motherboards now control the serial port in a way that is not compatible with some machines. At least that's the working theory at this point.

 

I run XP Pro and other than it taking a LOT more RAM for overhead, I love it. I do recommend you get 512MB of RAM if you plan to run XP.

Well Charles I got 1 gig or Memory on my XP at home and wish I had more for doing the big files we have. I got 1 gig at work using WIN2K also and it does good I think 512mb should be like the low call for doing complex 3d stuff just my thoughts.

A gig and a half seems to be the magic number for this O/S. Don't know why, but it turns the machine into a rocket ship. I strongly suggest XP Pro to all of my customers, especially those that have older Win95 era apps that they refuse to give up (gotta love compatability mode).

Did you say Win95 ohhhhhhhhhh. I think I would have to just shoot myself. Espically trying to to some ofthe toolpaths we do. Let me see takes 45 minutes to get some to calcaute now so on a win95 it would only take what a week. I always had to do ti the long code way so a week was where I was back then anyway lol just kidding guys before I get jumped on for that one.
