What is slowing me down

Hi guys, can anyone figure out what piece of hardware is slowing down some of my saves? I'm working on a fair size ipt model and when I save part way through, it takes about 3-4 secs on the load screen before it saves. What is slowing that down? My system right now is as follows

 

Windows 7 64 bit Ultimate

CPU - Intel 920 i7

Memory - 12GB triple channel

GPU - Nvidia 8800GT

SSD - Crucial M4 128GB

PSU - 550W ThermalTake (I believe. I know its 550W, can't remember name. Can't look at it as there is a cover around the whole box)

Is any part of your project located on your computer network (MCX file, Config file, Machine/Control Defs or Post)?

The original file was on the network, but has been saved to my local drive. I'm not on a nethasp.

How full is your SSD? I have seen two of them slow down when they were under 20% free space.

54GB free.

I have been telling our IT guy saving files has been taking forever. But we have platter drives, and the files are on the network. So I have assumed that was the reason.

Ya its weird, only happens on specific type. Eg long angles and/or channels. I mean like 200" length type parts. The part in question is a 3x3x3/8 angle that is 192" long.

do an experiment .. try a save with shading off then with shading on see if there is any difference

 

one more idea.. do you have backup turned on .. and if so, where is the backup file being saved

Thoob - Are you running any sort of antivirus software that could be interfering with read/writes? If so, try disabling that?

I don't have auto save on and I do have Avast running. I will try both suggestions.

Here are some things I would try:

 

1. In your Shading Settings, try setting the Chord Tolerance to .01-.02 and see if that helps at all.

2. Try running RAM-Saver from the Settings menu and see if that helps reduce the file size.

3. Do a 'Replace' on the Machine Definition, in Machine Group Properties.

Funny thing this morning, it is working fine. Same file. I have to assume it had something to do with the network. Now shouldn't the network not have any affect if I took it and saved it to the local drive? This is confusing me.

The real question is what changed from the 28th? Is that the first time the computer was rebooted? Were any of the support files (config/machine def/post/etc) located on the network?

Machine gets shut down everynight at 2.am and turned back on at 6a.m. Nothing is located on the network. Mastercam and all configs are on the local drive. The files on the network are just the ipt's from the models upstairs. :/
