But why would you want to polish a mould in this day and age.

 

Judging by the work we do here, there's really no choice for us. Customers require all sorts of different finishes and textures. That's just the nature of plastic injection molds.

*second edit: After actually reading the initial posts I see it's the 90 degree transitions that are the problem, sorry! I assumed it was the transitions between the 90 degree wall and rad. that file still has 90 degree turns but you can use it as an example of a consistent hybrid path

Here is one idea using the surface blend.Sense you wanted to see it. I have it split so it starts at the top on both sides.

Here is another example of Surface Finish Blend. I broke it out into two paths as well. I have it set to machine one way. this creates a lot of retracts. I am not a mould guy. A Zig Zag pattern will reduce the retracts but may affect your surface finish.

I did a path using spiral which the floor looks great but walls no so much maybe be able to do a combination of the two to get the results you want...

How about waterline, with corner rounding ticked and add cuts, set your min step down really small and your max step over to 0.5mm and that will eliminate the large step over on the shallow floors.

Very few spikes or sharp turns, my guess, less than 10 spikes total. One way, no transitions, stitches, zippers or any linking moves what so ever.

Hardmill a scallop toolpath still generates 90 degree transitions. The hybrid toolpath I think is better as it combines waterline and scallop in one.

Is there a way to manipulate the collapse pattern?

A merged NCI file is available under toopaths

 

You can merge tool motion into a file without incorporating the actually geometry

 

It really is a throw back back to the days of non-associative geometry but it still lives on in limited use today
