V9 design shortcut

One of our planners uses V9 for checking stock sizes and stuff

We are on a Nethasp and he was absorbing a Mill Level 3 license every time he launched V9 on his machine.

I've purchased a seat of Design and want to lock his seat down so it

only launches with a Design license

 

I used to know how to edit the desktop shortcut to do this, but it's been years

Can someone refresh my memory??

/D should do it. Look in the admin guide it talks about how to do it.

 

Page 13 talks about how to add the switches to the shortcut to control how it launches. Page 14 lists all the different ones and what they do.

That doesn't seem to be working with V9

 

Its been a long long time, but doesn't a V9 install ask if want to install

mill, lathe and design?

If so the simplest solution would be to uninstall and then reinstall with design only

G, as Ron said, it's been a long time, but I recall one MC installation that would put a lathe, mill, wire, design, etc shortcut on the desktop for each product. The best I can recall, they all shared the same design functionality with only the toolpaths differing. Now that I think about it even more, I've never had just a design seat. We've used MC Draft (no HASP required, IIRC) to view files but we really only used the Mill product. Not sure if any of this helps.

Just a thought...maybe just manually create a shortcut on the desktop that points to design.exe. I've never used Nethasp either so it may not help.

I think I opted to not install Design as there is no design.exe in the V9 install folder

I'll have to try this on my planner's machine next week

Yes in V9 it asked what you wanted to install so you can install just Design.

_{It was simple.. deleted the mill.exe shortcut and made a new design.exe shortcut..}
