You might have seen that Ray Kroc’s widow left $200 million to NPR radio. This is great for NPR, but why would you leave so much money to a non-profit organization? Any comments on this? If you had this kind of money to donate, where would you send it? I would have to consider an organization that helps with kids’ illnesses or cancer or something. But a radio station??

Anyone closer to the story have anything on this?

I agree.

monies to heart diesese research since eating at mcdonalds will eventually give it to you

Something that NPR would normally support, that is bashing the evil corporation.

I say in less than five years NPR will forget about Mrs. Kroc's generous donation and be supporting major class action against BIG FAST FOOD.

NPR as a general rule is community oriented through affiliates throughout the country. Each station has its own signature although they can subscribe to various national programs including news and entertainment. In my community they have 1/2 day of Local & National news, interviews, BBC news and a very interesting show called Talk of the Nation. The rest of the daytime programming is classical music, Jazz in the evening and Oldtime radio shows. The national news shows are the most in depth reporting you're likely to hear in this day of 30 second sound bites and idealogical diatribes. I say: Thank You Mrs. Kroc, I hope to do the same with my vast fortune biggrin.gifwink.gif
