Wire edm slugs

Recommended Posts

Think of a triangle with a .375" inscribed circle, with .060" walls.

I'm not sure what they're doing now I know they just mentioned they had trouble last time they wired them. I'm just helping out now that it's in production. I suggested no core but everyone's saying it'll take too long... Gonna give it a shot tomorrow anyways.

Start hole

Thats your biggest problem. I would use a smaller start hole so that your flush cups can seal off during the cut. If you cant then use flush cups with a smaller opening that will seal off. I imagine that your slug is moving with such a thin wall causing issues. If you cant do any of those things then program the part to rough 1/3 of it at a time to drop a slug and then skim after all have dropped.

Short of draining the tank and super gluing the slug not much I think can be done in those materials. I have done just that where I would stop 75% through the part. Drain the tank and blow dry. I would then put a couple dabs of super glue on the slug use accelerator to dry then finish the cut. Normally the slug would stay in place.
