CadKey .prt file

Does Mastercam have a way to open a .prt file from Cadkey (circa 2008)?  I received some files from a customer that I cannot open.  I am trying in Solidworks 2016 but it's been sitting there for 1/2 hour spinning its wheels.

 

Any help is greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance!

Solidworks probably  thinks they are ProEngineer or NX prt files

I have Solidworks set to CadKey when opening it and just sits there.  NX8.0 cannot open it, neither can Fusion 360.  Solidworks can open some of the drawing files but there are just lines and no text.  Was hoping to open the files with our native software.

I didn't notice that CADKEY was available.

Does your customer still have their seat of CADKEY??.. Maybe they can save them out as step or parasolid???

Been a long time since I heard of anybody using CadKey.  We had it when I started working with my dad on my junior year of high school, we had Autocad in the drafting class at school.  IMO CadKey was superior to Autocad, way more powerful solids.

Anyone with KeyCreator (such as myself) can open Cadkey .prt files.

 

Cadkey became KeyCreator a few years back.

Since they have CADKEY, just have them output a .CDL file. Mastercam can open them directly...
